TV aspect ratio for Xbox Series X

Good evening. I want to ask a question about what should be the correct aspect ratio for new Xbox series X. When I had my old Xbox one the TV aspect ratio was set to Just Scan (This is LG TV) basically it disables over scan and shows entire picture on the screen, 16:9 aspect ratio was not recommended for Xbox One because it makes picture worse I guess and crops the edges. Now with new Series X is it also recommended to set TV aspect ratio to Just Scan or 16:9 would be a better choice?

The aspect ratio is still 16:9. Over scan is typically taken into account. You can use either one as most games will let you adjust the display area

if you use just scan if you watch things like broadcast TV you may see things like close captioning appearing, which is typically hidden by the overscan area

There is your issue. Xbox One only supports 1440P on 16:9 aspect ratios (2560x1440).

Xbox supports your vertical resolution (1440), but not your display's horizontal resolution of 3440.

I have no idea if MS will support 21:9 aspect ratio's on Xbox One in the future, although I believe Series X will.

Yes, but you will have black bars on either side as the Xbox Series X|S only supports the 16:9 aspect ratio and not the super ultrawide 32:9 aspect ratio of the G9. The Xbox does detect it as 4K UHD + HDR so still looks super nice.

It does sound like an aspect ratio problem. Somewhere in your TV settings there should be an option to change the aspect ratio to one which better fits the signal that your xbox is transmitting. What model TV are you using?

most aspect ratio is controlled by the tv now, the xbox will output whatever ratio is the source, ie, a 4.3 video will either stretch or the tv with compensate and place it into 4:3
