Turtlebeach Recon 50X headphones not working with Xbox One

I have a set of Turtlebeach REcon 50X headphones which I can no longer hear through on my Xbox One (they are only one month old). The headphones work when connected to other devices. I have downloaded OS2 and OS1 updates from Microsoft to Xbox but it hasn't
fixed the problem. Last time I had this issue I had to replace the controller (only 2 months ago). I think the issue may be with the controller again (it is not wifi). Seems ridiculous to have to buy another controller. Any ideas/thoughts on how to fix
this.

Xbox One says that their is a mic plugged in even when there is not

I have the Turtle Beach Recon 50x . I have an old Xbox wireless controller so it doesn’t have the headphone jack. I also have a wired controller with a headphone jack. But the wireless controller has its rt button stuck. So I use the wireless to play and
the wired to play. It has worked fine. But then when I got home today my mic wasn’t working. Then I noticed it said my mic was plugged in even when it wasn’t. I think this might have something to do with me not being able to talk. I have tried restarting,unplugging
my mic, updating my controller but none of it has worked. Any Haley would be appreciated.

 

TurtleBeach Headphones Stopped Working

Hi can anyone help please? My son's TurtleBeach Headphones have suddenly stopped working. We have tried them with iPhone and iPad and they definately work. We restarted and reset the Xbox One, tried the 2nd remote controller,
checked all the settings but nothing is fixing the issue. A friend of my son was using the Xbox and may have managed to change one of the settings, but since we reset the Xbox we do not know what else to try. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

 

The Xbox One controller uses the same wiring standard that Android phones use (CTIA). If you have an Android phone, plug in your headset and see if you hear anything and try and make a call using the headset, make sure the mic is working too.

Apple phones and devices use the OMTP standard. Basically, they flip the mic and ground wire around from what Android uses.

I've got something to have you check and some controller troubleshooting to try.

On your Xbox, make sure the headset audio is set correctly - if this fixes it you're good

Settings > Display and Sound > Audio Output > Headset Audio - Stereo Uncompressed

Controller troubleshooting. If it's a software issue with the controller, this should help.

1) Settings > Kinect and Devices > Devices and Accessories > More Options

2) Select Firmware version, (even if it states no update available) and then choose Update Now.

- When its done it should state no updates needed

- Choose Close

3) Choose More Options > Select Assigned to and re-assign your profile to your controller

4) Buzz the controller. It should buzz. If it doesn't, either the feature is turned off or the batteries are low. Use new batteries and test again.

5) Go back to Configure and choose Restore Original. This resets the controller back to defaults

6) Pull the batteries out of the controller and leave them out until the Xbox has restarted from the step below

7) Hard reset the Xbox - Hard reset the Xbox by holding down the power button on the front of the Xbox for 15 seconds. After the 15 seconds let go of the power button then restart the Xbox.

8) Put batteries back in the controller

9) Re-sync your Xbox One controller to refresh the connection back to the Xbox.

10) With your headset plugged into the bottom of your controller

- Hit the Xbox Button on your controller and instead of choosing settings, choose Audio

- Make sure the Headset volume is all the way up

11) Now test the headset and see if it's working.

If your headset and mic are working on an Android phone but not working with the controller, it could be an issue with the controller.

 

Interestingly I am also having the same problem with the headphones. Not to Hazmat radio concerning the type of connection, he states that the headphones can no longer be heard through his controller implying that the same headphones once worked with the
same controller and therefore I would submit that they are wired using the CTIA standard.

I followed the process of updating the controller firmware with no success. Also the process for re-acquiring the controller to the Xbox by removing the controller power for 15 minutes and doing a hard power cycle on the console. Later introducing the
batteries into the controller and pressing the small button on the front of the controller while powering on the console. This did not seem to work but gently applying pressure to the jack and pressing if in more firmly seemed to correct the issue. So
the issue seems to be with the wiring in the jack or the spring contact in the jack itself or perhaps condensation or moisture has caused some oxidation. But twisting the connection or jiggling it has corrected the issue.

 

@Poppy - I'm using a headset right into my controller. I don't have the stereo headset adapter, sometimes those can work loose. AND I forgot to mention to reseat the headset cable! Sorry about that!

When you're looking at the jack for your headphones, there's not much contact that's being made there to begin with. So it doesn't take much to cause a physical connection issues.

So my son can hear fine using these headphones, but his friends can't hear him chat. We have followed all tips on Xbox and have gone through tech support with no luck getting the solution. Xbox suggested we replace the console which we did and within a
week the same issue is occurring. Any suggestions? Both the system and headphones are only two-three weeks old. This is very frustrating!!
