Turtle Beach XO Seven Pros work with one controller, but not the other?

So yesterday I took delivery of my first ever pair of Turtle Beach headset, namely the XO Seven Pro set. As you may know, to use a headset with the Xbox One Controller, you need a Stereo Headset Adapter, but this headset comes with one made by Turtle Beach,
so not an official Microsoft one.

Of my two controllers, I have a White one and a Black one, the latter of which I use mostly because Microsoft refuse to sell replacement white ones separately and I don't want to ruin it. However, the headset only works with the White controller. It works
exactly as you would expect.

The black controller is a different story, the headset and adapter receives power (I can tell because I can hear the Mic Monitoring and some lights activate when you press the buttons), and the headset microphone is detected, but it does not pick up any
sound, nor does any audio play through the earcups.

I had a Live Chat with Xbox and they suggested I clear persistent data, clear custom MAC address and then reset my Xbox, which seems both drastic and pointless, because how would they sort out the controller problem?

Has anyone had any similar issues? If so, how did you sort it?

I also use the Turtle Beach XO Sevens. They work great! No problems whatsoever.

 

I'm not sure if this is right but I think you have to update the controller to work with the headset. Try connecting it to the controller then use a micro USB-USB cable to connect it to the Xbox. From there it should either come up asking you to update it
or you have to got to "devices" in settings, select the controller and do it from there. I'm not sure if this works because I haven't tried it yet but from what I have heard I think that is what you do.
