Turtle Beach X42 and the Xbox one

Ok, So after tons of research I have come to the conclusion that if I purchase a set of TB X42's they will give me game audio but I won't be able to chat with them. I would have to use the kinect sensor. I get that part. My question is this. If i buy a set
of TB X42's and then buy the chat adapter for the Xbox One through Microsoft can I then use the mic on the headset for the in game chat and not have to use the Kinect. The main reason that I want to do this is because the new headsets are stereo and not dolby
digital surround sound ones like my old X41's.

    :)

Anyone got a Turtle Beach Ear Force Stealth 500X headset?

Turtle beach has disgustingly poor with after sales support. The only options to contact them is via email not phone. With email they say expect up to 10 days and its only 9-5 they answer emails.

Does this headset work with my xbox 360 slim console? When xbox one came out, they said the turtle beach x42 is only compatible with xbox 360 and not xbox one but my x42 works with xbox one just not the chat. Sonce both x42 and 500x use optical out port,
game sound should work both on xbox 360 and xbox one.

Retailers in australia and new zealand have high customer service expectations. Maybe turtle beach should work on their customer service. Turtle beaches distributors are qvc for australia and fiveight for new zealand.

Would it also give me surround sound instead of stereo like the TB XO4's and O7's

Unless another user has specific experience with those headsets, you would probably be better off asking Turtle Beach directly as they would know about their own products. However, if they are sold as Xbox One headsets (I don't know if they are...) then
they would presumably work with the Xbox One - both mic and audio.

depending on ur cash check out astros. you can use the adapter for chat and because of the mix amp it comes with, its still able to use 7.1 surround sound.

yeah I like the Astros but It's a bit much for me. I don't game competitively. On Turtlebeache's website they say that they work with the Xbox one but the chat function only works with the kinect. I assume it's because they don't come with a chat adapter
for the controller. I will call Turtle beach and see if they can tell me more.

It depends how they connect. If they connect through the controller, they would NEED a chat adapter, but it's possible they connect directly to the console (via optical out?) and so chat would be impossible, meaning you would then need to use Kinect.

Speaking with them should give you a definitive answer though. Turtle Beach X42 and the Xbox one :)

  9. I would assume it would work like my turtle beach headset does, I bought the adapter, right now I'm using it for game sound and chat, but they aren't dolby surround sound so im not sure how that would work.

  10. I have the TB X42 and just purchased the XB1 chat adapter and it's junk. First, my voice breaks up when talking any louder than normal. Second and most importantly the adapter apperantly plays it's own game audio through the headset even with the volume
turned all the way down on the headset. If you turn down your headset and use the audio from the headset it sounds awful. When using the headset audio ether the adapter audio turned down you can't here your friends in chat. Then when turning up the chat volume
to fix that issue it plays both audio signals at the same time whitch creats a very bad echo. The X42 is great. Love it. The XB1 adapter? It's garbage.

I own the X42 and it works just fine with my Xbox One Controller with the Stereo Adapter. I can't really tell if I'm getting 5.1 surround. I couldn't tell before when I had the WiFi Adapter connected to the back of my Xbox One. Once you update the controller
with the Stereo adapter connected all you need to do is connect the headset to the adapter. You don't need the WiFi adapter anymore. I think the WiFi adapter sucked to begin with. Too much whining and crackling.

I also tried this out with my older DX11 wired headset. In my opinion the DX11 works better because I can run it off the system sound, get surround sound that is noticeable. is more comfortable, and it sounds better in chat. Plus I don't need to worry
about feeding the damn thing batteries.

I do have one unique issue. I have two Xbox One Controllers. I updated both at the same time using the same process. One controller will work with the stereo adapter and the other will not. There is no way to back out the firmware update to try again.
It is entirely possible that the firmware update is your issue and not the headset.

I wish my pair of X42's would work. I can use them to listen to the game but when I have the chat adapter plugged in and headset plugged in for chat, it shows that I have a mic connected but no one can hear me even though nothing is muted. Usually after
anywhere from 5-15 minutes my controller randomly disconnects and the only way to reconnect is to remove the chat adapter. I'm starting to think it's the chat cable for my headset but than again it seems to work on my 360 when I reconnect to it.

I have the X41 and the Xbox stereo controller adapter. With the X41 base station connected to the Xbox via optical, I get decent game audio through the headset. I believe it's only stereo and not simulated surround sound. The chat function works with the
stereo controller adapter, but it has the same problem that everyone else has -- there's a lot of static on my voice which makes it useless for chat. I think that the chat audio coming from these headsets, including the Turtle Beach and Astros, is at a level
that's causing clipping, which is the cause of the static sound.

  14. I have tb x42 and the chat adapter is very difficult to get to work at anything that is acceptable. I get game audio , which is supplied through the optical output and the back of the console but the chat and game volume control on the adapter is a real
pain . I dont even plug in my cord anymore. also the audio isn't nearly as good as it was on the 360. I'm hoping this is something that can be resovlved with some future update. It can't be that hard, I mean the 360 worked just fine so you'd think the next
gen console would have rolled wit it and not broke it. we are supposed to be advancing here in all aspects of gaming but i have yet to experience any other than a slight improvement in graphics. load times are still to long, audio sucks, features that i used
and enjoyed have been deleted ..but anyways I'm off to play my 360!!!!

I have TB X42's and game audio is great in 5.1 but the mic doesn't work with the adapter from Microsoft. Pretty much the same problem as Da Iron Thumb describes.
