Turtle Beach X12 headset on XBox One

I have the XBox One controller with the 3.5mm jack connector. I have a Turtle Beach X12 headset that I used with my 360. I have a 2.5 mm female to 3.5mm male jack converter.

The mic on my X12 isn't picked up by my XBox One. I've tested it with Upload Studio and sending Audio messages. I did a few searches online, including on this forum and have found information on getting this to work, problem is, as far as I'm aware, I have
everything set up correctly and it's still not working. The headset still works fine with my 360 and the default XBox One packaged headset is working fine with my controller. My audio is fine in the headset it's just not picking up the mic.

Try buying the xbox one stereo headset adaptor. Buy the official one from Microsoft. Then follow this link. can_i_use_turtlebeach_x12_on_xbox_one_using_the

 

Type in can I use turtle beach x12 with xbox one stereo adaptor and follow any of the reddit post. Message if you have any issues with the adaptor and I'll get back to you whenever I can. I know how you feel because I had the x12s at one point.

I bought the newer controller (see the sockets in my photo posted above.) with the 3.5mm jack connector at the bottom to try and avoid buying this adapter, though it is a little cheaper than it was when I first looked it up.

As far as I can tell from reading forum posts and the like on the subject all I should need is the adapter to turn the 2.5 turtle beach jack to 3.5 to fit in the controller.

While searching for the above link however, I came across this cable:

Is this any different from the one I bought and linked to in my OP? Does anyone know if it'll work? It's still a little more expensive than I'd like to spend right now but if I can figure out what's different between the one I bought and this one maybe I can

Does it have anything to do with the number of individual sections separated by the black in the male jack? Mine has 3 (as seen in the links I posted in OP) but the ones in the picture of the last link I provided has 4.

Yes the stereo headset adaptor wire will work. It also states in the description you need the stereo headset adaptor by Microsoft the one for 17.85 as well. The wire and adaptor are both required to get your headset working. The cable you listed In your
reply back to me and the 17. 85 xbox stereo headset adaptor are both required. The wire plugs in to the adaptor and the adaptor plugs in the Xbox controller. I have the elite controller with the headphone jack as well and it dosent work right in my testing.
I know it sucks that you have to spend more money then you wanted too but unfortunately the only other way is to buy a new headset made for Xbox one. So buy the wire you stated in your reply post to me and the stereo headset adaptor for 17. 85 and your headset
will work. Your x12s will have some issues with xbox one because they are not designed for the xbox one.

If the items in those links above don't fix your issue then buy a new xbox one headset. Trust me a new xbox one headset would be your best option. A new headset would sound better and perform better then your x12s. Turtle beach has some nice headsets that
are pretty affordable.

 

I found a headset that will work perfectly.

Thanks again for the replies. I'm just curious about a couple of things.

Firstly, what was the point in bringing out the controller with the jack in it if a converter is still required to just be plugged over there top of it? Doesn't the converter basically just provide you with a jack in replacement of the original connector?

Secondly, why sell the adapter separately from the cable of the cable is required to properly use the adaptor?

 

When I bought my adapter a cable was included. You should be OK just ordering the adaptor. The adaptor in the UK should be the same as the USA I would think. The answer to your other question is your headset is a xbox 360 headset so without the adaptor your
sound quality would be poor and your friends might complain about your mic quality. You can buy the cable without the adaptor and if you have any issues then just order the adaptor.

 

You need the cable because your headset is 2.5 millimeter connector and the controller is a 3.5 millimeter connector
