Turtle Beach Headset issue

Morning all,

I'm a dad trying to help my son with his Xbox issue. He has Xbox One and has been using a headset for quite some time now, but all of a sudden it stopped working. So we figured the headset went bad, so we purchased a new one and we still can't get it to
work. You can hear ok, but the mic doesn't work. It shows on his profile picture the green circle like he is talking, no one can hear him. I worked on it for 2 hours last night to no avail. Any and all help would be greatly appreciate.

As for your lag (with the headset turned off) does it still happen when wired to the router and wired to the modem?

 

hello mistermoo,

please make sure you haven't turned the volume down in the audio settings, if that isn't the issue please make sure you have updated your xbox controller with the mic in.

 

When we plugged in the new headset we didn't get prompted to update the controller. I went into settings and it showed no update available.

 

and have you checked in the audio setting on the console to make sure the volume isn't turned down if it isn't that please try power cycling the console.

 

MisterMoo1031, go to messages and record an audio voice message to send to a friend with the headset. You don't have to send it to the friend, but you can play the message back to yourself prior to sending. Did it record what you said through your mic?
This is just a test to see if the mic is actively working despite lighting up in parties.

Send voice or text messages on Xbox one.

To send message to friends:

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide, then select
   Communication > New conversation.
2. Choose someone (or several people) from your friends list, then select
   Done.
3. Select the text or microphone icon, then do either of the following:
   • Enter your message in the box. When you’re done, select Enter.
   • Select Record to leave a voice message. When you’re finished recording, select
     Stop or talk until you reach the time limit. When you’re happy with your message, select
     Send message.

Ok, just tried it and it didn't record. I have 2 separate headsets and neither of them work. The old one used to, but stopped working a couple days ago.

 

So my son has 2 controllers and one of them doesn't even recognize the headsets. I tried the test with both controllers and both headsets and nothing .

 

Hello Mister,

Do you know if your son or you are in the insider program? If you aren't sure you can go to the Xbox insider hub app and see if you are enrolled. We basically did all of the troubleshooting. When you hit the Xbox button on controller and go to far right
to system, before going into settings do you see Audio there? if so try moving them three around a little especially mic monitoring.

Hey MisterMoo thanks for keeping us in the loop!

This is sounding a lot like the controller would benefit from an update. The way we suggest going about doing so would be a reset of the console:

Soft
Factory Reset (while keeping games and apps and keep the controller and headset hardwired)
IF AND ONLY IF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA IS MET:

• There is a stable network connection.
• The information for all profiles is known (email and passwords)

Once the setup is complete it will ask if we want to keep settings or manual setup lets do manual setup. Give it a shot and let us know of any changes!

 

How do I go about doing this? Would my son be able keep all of his game progress? What does it wipe?
