Turning on Xbox One remotely

I'm having trouble tuning on my console remotely. I've tried both through Xbox one smart glass and the windows 10 app and they both give me the same response; "We couldn't turn on your console. Make sure this device is on the same network as your console
and your console is set to instant-on." I am on my schools wired network with both my computer and console and I am able to stream my Xbox smoothly and do everything else except turn it on. Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

Hey OP, that's certainly odd. When the second quadrant lights up, does the first one go dim? Or do they both light up for a short time? Also, is it possible someone in the house is turning on then turning off a controller remotely?

 

TV control not autoselecting correct AV input

I have reprogrammed my Harmony 1100 remote so the one button press for XB1 turns everything on, changes the inputs and selects the right remote for the SKY box. I then pick up my controller and turn XB1 on. It works better than shouting to turn Xbox on, and then like you mentioned, your remote is all out of sync. Harmony remote wins for me for now.

 

Hey there. You can usually fix this with a full reboot of your console. Open the guide, go down to the Settings tab, and Reboot console. If that doesn't work, double check to make sure SmartGlass isn't disabled in Settings, Preferences, SmartGlass. If you
still can't connect, go to Turn off console in the settings tab, then unplug your console for about 5 minutes.

 

Thanks for the quick reply KenH2k4, although this still didn't work. It still gives me the same response.

 

Make sure both your app and console are up to date. In the Store in Windows, click your user picture, then Downloads and Updates, and Check for Updates to make sure your app is updated, and on your console, go to Settings, System, Console info & updates.
If they are, in the app on the Connect tab, click More by your console name, then Forget console, and add it back.

 

I just tried mine on my android and it works fine.

 

I'm having the same issue since NXOE update. The Xbox App in Win 10 and Smartglass are unable to turn on the console, as It become invisible to the network when in standby. I tried hard reset, I tried to unplug the cable for 5 minute, several combination
of it, but it still doesn't work.

PC and Console are wire-connected to the router, and everything worked totally fine before the update.

 

Same here. Last update *** things up. iOS & Win10 apps work fine except turning on from standby.
