“Turning on console with controllers but only controller turns on, not console”

Hey there Art! I assume you're using a wireless controller here. Unfortunately there isn't a way that I'm aware of to disable the controller waking the console when turned on. When you take it to your computer, you could briefly unplug your console from
power. The only other option I'd have to give is to pick up a second controller, either another wireless one for your console, or a new wired one for your PC. Let me know if there's anything else I can help with, thanks!

so say no controller is on the dock, and i hold the xbox button on the controller, select turn off console....will that power the console back on, or will the controller turn off? When i am having this problem, the console and the controller both turn off,
and then only the console logo lights back up, not the controller, if that helps clear up my issue, thanks 24hrs2live.

I used the controller to turn off the console and the controller stayed on after it went off. When I tried to use the controller to turn on the console with the controller the controller came on but not the console. Everything works fine after after a hard
reset. But only until I turn it off and restart it, then it happens all over again.

  Guide button  on the controller for three seconds. Next, select to turn off just the controller or the controller and the console. If you select the console, the console and all connected controllers are
  turned off.

I have the exact same problem.

I can use the controllers for any length of time once connected but as soon as I turn the console off the controller gets disconnected once I turn the unit back on.

If I try to turn the unit back on via the controller the LED on the controller simply flashes and the console stays off.

If I turn the console on manually the controller isn't connected and no amount of re'syncing will fix it.

The only way for me to reconnect the controller is to do a full system reset and then use the controller to turn on the console.

Really annoying having to full reset my console every time I want to use it.

Considering returning the console.
