    Turning off Xbox at wall after shut down


    When turning off the Xbox, I use the controller by holding down the X button and selecting “Turn off the console”. Once done, if I immediately then turn the wall plug off, the console makes a little whining sound. However, I’ve noticed that if I leave the
    console for a few minutes before turning the wall plug off, the console performs some kind of extra shut down. Turning the wall plug off after this does not produce a whining sound. Is it an issue turning the wall plug off immediately after the console does
    the initial shut down? Or should I always wait for a few minutes to allow it to perform the extra shut down?

    It doesn’t appear to impact saved game data but I wondered if it had any other consequences.

    Wall plug do you mean you unplug you're xbox from the wall? Sorry confused about what you're trying to say

    I spoke too soon. When I hold the power button down to shut off the xbox, the next time it's turned on, it turns on the TV. Then the next time after that I turn on the Xbox, it doesn't turn on the TV. It seems the only time after the Spring 2017 update
    the Xbox turns on a TV is after it's shut off holding the power button.

    Looks like I'm not the only one after looking at the message boards :/

    Nope. If i hold the button to shut it down the only way to keep it off is to unplug the hard drive. Its 100% the hard drive causing this issue. But the one i had before which was also wall powered did not cause this issue.

    Anyone here use a hard drive plugged into the back usb ports usb or wall powered?

    I just turned my xbox on while in instant on mode and it never shut down. So it doesnt seem to do it all the time.

    redownload your profile and Power cycle your console by shutting it down and unplugging it from the wall and wait 30secs or till the light on the power brick turns off (older Xbox ones and 360) unless you have an Xbox s like me

    Then Power it on
