Turning itself on + running disc drive

Hey all,

I just had my Xbox One turn itself on and then the disc drive start running.

It has done this several times today. Sometimes the disc drive starts running before even the Xbox symbol lights itself showing that its on. I've now unplugged it.

It even runs the disc drive while I'm playing a digital downloaded game (BF4) and no disc is in the drive.

I'm wondering if this is common or maybe I got a bad console? I've had this about two weeks now.

I don't have the Kinect.

Xbox Keeps turning itself on

I had same issue, then i got to thinking how the disc drive works. When you insert a disc a tiny sensor "sees" the disc and begins pulling it in. So i blew on disc opening and am having no problems. If said sensor has debris ie dust then it will think you
are always trying to insert disc.

Xbox turning off by itself.

have you installed the games to reduce heat from the disc drive?

Mine did something like this last night, I could hear the disk drive running. It took me a minutes to figure out the noise was from the Xbox One.

I was the only one in the room when it started and I wasn't using it and the power light wasn't on. I did leave a game disk in it from when I used it last (week or two ago) if that makes any difference.

I ejected the disk which didn't stop it, then I tried turning the power on then off which did work.

There was a recent update that rolled out as mrGREEK360 mentions above.

-Its common for the system to turn on (partially) make some computer sounds and even the disc drive to make computer sounds and disc drive sounds.

Remove the disc from the console, Turn off your console, disconnect your external hard drive and turn the console back on with the external drive still disconnected. Once the it has fully booted to the Home screen, you can connect your external drive again and then try running the disc

Is it possible that the disc is slightly warped and that the disc itself is causing the vibrations that cause the drive to become louder?

If you are playing on a Xbox One, be aware that the console only reads from the disc during installation.

If the game is installed, the disc only runs to check the security sector to prove that you still own the game disc.

After that, the disc drive will stop and be completely silent.

Please check if other discs are also louder than normal, or if only a few discs are louder. If only a few discs spin louder than normal, it's because the disc itself is warped and causes louder vibrations than other "non-warped" discs.
