'Turn On' Xbox One Not Working But SmartGlass Does

I am unable to turn on my Xbox One from the Windows 10 Xbox app, receiving the following error message "We are unable to turn on your console. Make sure this device is on the same network as your console and your console is set to instant-on".
However, if the Xbox One is already on, I can connect and utilize game streaming from Windows 10. On the same network, I can successfully turn on the Xbox One from the SmartGlass app on my iPhone and then connect to the Xbox One for game streaming from Windows
10. Any ideas for how to get the Xbox One to turn on directly from Windows 10 without having to use the SmartGlass app?

Can't remotely turn on or off console when used for streaming

So no-one else is having this issue?

Weirdly enough, it started working yesterday. Was able to turn the console on and off remotely from the SmartGlass app but I've just gone to play again now and it's not working.

I would start with a full power cycle of the console (head into Settings, Power, Turn Xbox off, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on), then a reboot of your PC. Also, verify that your console is still set to Instant On, but I imagine it is since Smartglass
is working

It's plugged into the xbox one. It works as it turns off my BT vision.

Also smartglass does not work the TV so eliminates any IR emitter issues

There is an Xbox One specific SmartGlass app on the store. The 360 version does not work.

Basically its an extension to the console, can serve as a controller (at least it does on the 360).

Make sure both are on the same WiFi network and that in the Xbox One's Settings, SmartGlass is enabled.

If that does not help, turn off all equipment. Turn the router off and also turn the console off completely - to do that, press the Xbox logo on its front for about five seconds until the light on the power unit goes orange, then unplug it from the wall for
a few minutes. Switch the router on and once the network is back up (open a webpage on a PC to confirm), connect and power up the console and see if that helps.
