Turn off co-op

Is there a way to turn off co-op I love this game but I'd love it alot more if people didn't keep showing up in my game. I can live with the tower but the missions I want to do on my own. If there isn't a way in the beta will there be in the full game?

As much as I love co-op campaigns, a Bethesda game engine would never be able to handle co-op. Impossible.

And yes its going to be interresting to see how the ME3 co-op turns out. I havent heard much about that. But I think ME could easily pull off a co-op campaign with their game engine.

 

Yup, EA shutting down more servers time....

I wonder how long it will be before they turn off the servers for the Mass Effect 3 co-op.

 

The persons playing along beside you don't affect your game.You are playing in an open world, on a server this isnt halo.

 

They also cant effect any missions you are on. Quite often when you see people they can be on a totally different mission than you.

Also when you get to those no respawn zones no one can join you unless they are on your fireteam or you are doing one of those strike missions with match making.

So turning off the online aspect isnt necessary

 

Ok I get that they are on different missions but I still don't like it. I spend all day having to talk to people at work so when I play games I want to play on my own (like I have since the 80's) it just seems that game makers keep forcing MP into everything.
At least one mission I did forced MP completly (the one where you fight the beetle thing) and I just felt like I was letting the other guy down as he was quite good and I was just messing about really, although I did finesh it but it felt like more of a chore,
I felt I had to finesh it. Borderlands let you turn off MP and this seems simular so why not let us play it this way (but adjust raid stuff so it can be done by one person not like borderlands which sticks two fingers up to people playing on there own at this
point). There are loads of people I knoe that agree with this, when I watched E3 this year I was gutted at how many games are forcing this stuff and this is the worst yet (watchdogs did that annoying thing but a consoke reset sorted that one).

 

The other players do effect your game as they can kill enemies you are also shooting at.

I hear what your saying man but i think this is what makes Destiny unique. You may be better off playing skyrim ;P

 

Well, in certain parts of the game and story the players will disappear and not spawn into your mission. The mission you're talking about is an exception, because you're fighting somewhat of a stronger "boss-like" character which would be difficult to take
down on your own. I think they have to be in your fireteam to talk to you, as well. It's a first person shooter mixed with massive multiplayer online gameplay, so there's really nothing you can do about the other players in your game, but it doesn't affect
you, or your story. Maybe in the full release you could play it offline. They also might add an option to play it without the multiplayer features as well. It's just the beta.

 

Yeah I am hoping it is just because it's a beta and that's fair enough after all they are trying to stress test the games servers. However nothing gets me more annoyed than people "stealing" my kills when I'm trying to level up, hell me and the wife get
annoyed with each other on split screen games for that so a complete stranger doing it is really annoying (out of interest when items drop is it a case of the first one to grab it or does everyone see there own stuff). The only reason it's bugging me so much
with this game is it seems to be such a great game and whilst I'm glad the MP is there for people that like it, I feel it can work just as well for us loners too if there was an "anti-social mode".

 

Ammo and loot is only for the person who sees it. I understand your point of view(I have Borderlands 1 & 2 and never play them online), and sometimes the extra people can be annoying(trying to farm for glimmer but end up in the wake of someone else leaving
lots of corpses). I was wondering if it would be an option to turn off as well, but the mission where you teamed with people was a strike and that will always be co-op so you might just want to avoid those(not optimal but no way to solo those).

 

I don't think you will get very far. A lot of the creatures are powerful. You gonna need about ten players to beat some aliens.

 

You won't be doing many raids if you insist on playing solo only.

 

I've heard several comments (can't remember from where) that Destiny (and many aspects of it) is one big social experiment. As someone has already mentioned, you won't be able to do raids at all. They will require 6 people. I really only messed around playing
the story mode in the beta and even at that, there was a part where you had match making happen automatically because you needed a 3 person team to take down a boss. Like it or not, that's how the game is going to work.

I can understand coming home from work in 'anti social mode'. My job makes me feel the same way. But if you're going to be that dead set against any social aspects of the game, then Destiny will very likely not be for you.

 

If there is no (expletive deleted) way to keep strangers from messing up my game then this game is a failure. I don't care how much the makers want to have us all holding hands and singing hippy songs, I don't want to have (expletive deleted) strangers in
my game. Period. At all. If the requirement of having people I don't have as friends in my game is part of this game then it should be printed on the label and made obvious in every commercial that no one can play this game without having people who steal
kills and treat their team mates badly IN GIANT LETTERS. This alone will kill this game. I DO NOT WANT STANGERS IN MY GAME! I HAVE FRIENDS FOR THAT!

 

You sir have bought the wrong game, this game is a MMOFPS.
