My son has an adult account in my family - but he can't make any in app purchases. He wants to buy NHL19 points in an EA game.

- I can't change his setting under my account in Family

- I have his passcode off and a credit card added.

But the game tells him he needs to make changes to Settings>account>privacy, but as far as I can see, all is turned on.

HOW does he make an in app purchase??

(This momma is trying to reward fabulous summer behaviour and I can't figure it out!!)

It isn't the following setting that is blocking him is it? Settings > Account > Privacy & online safety > Xbox live privacy > View details & customise > Buy and & download, is this last one set to on also?

No 😢.

He is an adult account. I changed his xbox live to an adultaccount. I did the hard restart. He still cant buy nhl points in his nhl game. It says he has to make changes in settings.

Any other ideas??

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. I'd be happy to help.

If your son has an adult account in your Family, then he will need to change the settings from his own account or you will need to do it for him. Unless you added his account as a child account when you added him to the Family group with child restrictions,
then you will not be able to change his privacy settings from your own account.

Have him go into the Account Xbox Live privacy settings and make sure the settings are set to Adult defaults, he shouldn't have any restrictions from buying in game credits with his adult account. Then, go ahead and do a
hard restart and power cycle. Hold down the power button on the console
for about 10 seconds until it shuts down and then remove the power cable from the Xbox and the power outlet for about 2-3 minutes. Then re-connect and turn on the Xbox.

Thank you for the update. If that's the case then it's possible it could be an EA issue. To figure this out, I recommend removing his account from the Family group. You should be able to from his account because an adult account can remove themselves from
a Family. Once his account is not associated to a Family, try to buy the points again.

If you are able to buy other in-game points for different games, or even buy games themselves without restrictions, then the issue would be with EA.

Thank you! I think it must just be an nhl issue as I have removed him from our family, made sure he is listed as an adult and rebooted. Still no luck in being able to purchase nhl points. I still get the message “you cannot purchase in game content because
of how your account is set up”, but account is set to adult and all blocks are off. 😡
