Turn Based Strategy?

I know this probably falls into a minority group for console gamers, but I thing Xcom and some previous Playstation titles proved that there will always be a market for a good turn based strategy.

Sometimes I don't feel like trying to keep up with competitive ai or other players in games like NHL 15 or Titanfall. It's nice to have that option to just stress my mind instead of my fingers and let my body relax after a long day of work.

Anyways.. enough rambling about me... As far as I have seen, there arent any turn based strategy games announced for Xbox One as of yet. Im surprised that at least an indie developer hasn't stepped in to fill this gap. Maybe I'm wrong... has anything been
announced? There are a handful of controller friendly turn based indie games on steam that I would even be satisfied to purchase again on xbox

Turn based RPG games

If you don't mind going retro, Shining Force 1 and 2 are on the Sega MegaDrive (Genesis) Ultimate Collection, along with Phantasy Star II, III and IV.

 

Turn based RPG games

get the sonic's genesis collection and it has phantasy star 1-4 and shining force ( I forget how many)

in total it's $20 or less worth every penny.

 

Yea not a lot of TBS on Xbox, but do you really need a turn base; controller friendly game for PC? You could play them with a lap top touchpad. I understand the desire to want to play a Strat game on Xbox though. You can sit on your big comfy couch. with
a big TV and sound system in front of you.

There has been talk of some Real time strategy games coming to Xbox one.

I know for sure Dungeon of the Endless is coming to Xbox one, which is a really fun game on Steam. Its a mix of RPG/Real Time strategy/Tower defense and you can Pause the action to set up your squad. No need for a controller.

Other than that I really don't know, but at the moment I can highly recommend a couple other games on Steam..."Invisible, INC", which is a procedural turn-based stealth game. It is amazing and it is still in early access from Klei Entertainment (The same
people that made Don't Starve, Mark of the Ninja and Shank) Also if you like XCOM then you would LOVE "Halfway". It is pretty much a modern 2D homage to the older XCOM games. Turn based shooter/RPG at its best. Both games will work your mind more than your
fingers. No constant clicking of hotkeys, play at your own pace, good stuff.

 

Thanks Waterduhlong. I only have a work laptop which I dont like putting games on. I have actually played Dungeon of the endless and I would love to play that game on console

Ive also played Invisible Inc and Halfway. Halfway seems a little simple but Invisible Inc is pretty great . If they even ported some simple Roguelikes I would be happy

 

Yea I really like Rougelikes as well. Most tend to be bit-style graphics and people complain that they want top of the line graphics for a game on console. But they are normally like 15 bucks and can give you dozens of hours of play time. Faster Than Light-FTL
was $10 and I have around 15 hours in that game.

Love Xcom would love to see more similar games, would also like to see some play by email games which are turn based, would be excellent on console like planets or medieval diplomacy).

 

For Xbox 360, there's an arcade game that came out years ago called Commanders: Attack of the Genos. It's a really fun little turn-based strategy game, and you can probably get it for five bucks or so.
