Trying to use available gamertag (unavailable)

Hello i was trying to change my gamertag yesterday, i search it on "gamertag finder" and "player search" and says that is available to use, but when i try to change it in the Xbox 360 dashboard says that is unavailable cuz other player already take it (What
is not true). Yes maybe is under copyright protection because the gamertag i want is a comic character name but it dosent make sense because other player are using the same gamertag but in a different way that i want. I will put a "i" at the begining of the
gamertag so it will be a diferent gamertag (but says that is unavailable and is not already taken by other player). So i want to know if i can contact Microsoft to tell if can unlock the gamertag to let me use it.

Unavailable- Not available, accessible, or at hand.

In other words, if the gamertag is unavailable, it is, as a matter of fact, not available.

There's hope for the future, though. When a Gamertag is changed, the old one doesn't immediately become available.

If I change my gamertag today from "" to "I Am " it won't let anybody else change their tag to "" for some time.

I remember a year or so ago Major Nelson announced that many of the previously unavailable Gamertags would become available again. It's possible that if the gamertag you want was previously in use, but isn't anymore, it could become available again in the
future.

This could be happening because...

• The system may have not been updated
• The gamertag may have been taken recently
• The gamertag has been abandoned, buts is not cleared or updated just yet
• The gamertag was banned

Not to be rude, but unfortunately, we or Microsoft cannot just clear or unlock a gamertag just for you, sadly. You can try using the gamertag in other cases like adding extra numbers and letters.

If the system says it's in use then it is in use somewhere on Microsoft's servers. The tag system is in use on other Microsoft services, so even if it doesn't show as an Xbox gamertag, it may be in ise somewhere else.

Also the system doesn't see things like spaces as making a gamertag unique. So if you look up "gamertag", it may show as being free but it could be in use as "gamer tag" so you cannot use it.

 

Ok, I hear some time ago that Microsoft are unlocking old & abandoned gamertags to be in use again. i hope it do an unlock wave soon & have the luck that the gt i want was unlocked.
