Trying to un-redeem gift cards.

A few weeks ago, I bought two Xbox gift cards from EB Games so I could buy Minecraft Java Edition, but I added the $40 in funds I got through the gift cards to the wrong account. I haven't used any of the money so it's all in my account. Is there any way I can get them un-redeemed so I can use them in the right place?

Hi,

Unfortunately once a code has been redeemed, there’s no way to cancel and redeem it again on another account. This applies to both physical and digital gift cards.

A workaround to this would be to purchase the game as a gift - just be sure to select the correct account (either by entering the email address or from your friends list). Nothing can be transferred between accounts, so this is probably the best solution in your particular situation.

Try gifting it to the account you want to play it on through the Microsoft store on your computer.

What does it say when you try to redeem it? Are you in the same region as the gift card you purchased...ie as it's a US $ card, are you in the United States? As gift cards in a different currency cannot be redeemed in a different region....I have a UK account and can't redeem US $ cards

Thank you for contacting the Xbox Support forums. If you received a Roblox gift card, you may need to redeem it directly through Roblox. If you are having difficulties redeeming an official Roblox Gift card, you may need to contact Roblox support directly.

However, if you have an official Microsoft gift card, we can most definitely assist. Most of our gift cards will have steps on how to redeem them on the back of physical cards. Please visit: How to redeem gift cards and codes | Xbox Support for steps on how to redeem a gift card on an Xbox console, PC, or mobile device. If the code is appearing invalid, you may need to confirm the region of the card, try on another device, or look for any errors that may mention that the card has already been claimed.
