Trying to transfer

My father and I once shared this account when I was a child. I created an Xbox live account and my father used the email. I have since grown up and moved away, only discovering now that my old account is still linked to his currently-active Microsoft account.
Is there a way I could take my Xbox account and move over to a different Microsoft account while leaving my father's Microsoft account intact?

No unfortunately not. Nothing is transferable between accounts

should I format it or try to transfer it because Im ok with trying to transfer the data using FATXplorer but I dont have a transfer cable

You would have to try contacting support to see if they can cancel the original purchase so you can purchase it on the correct account. Otherwise, nothing can be transferred between accounts. 1-800-4my-xbox if you're in the US/Canada or

Alternatively, you could sign in with the account that owns the game, set the console as your Home console, and then be able to access the game on your other account.
