Trying to sign in on my xbox live account

My brother and I were recently trying to sign into his old xbox 360 account (St0nedassassin6) but it asked us for his email address because we never signed into his account on the xbox we are using. We tried to use his Hotmail email we used to make his account
but when we try to log into his account there is a error that pops up saying:

Sorry, something's wrong with your Microsoft account. Go to
https://account.live.com for help.

Please tell me what that means and how I can log into his account because he has a lot of game add-ons that I would like to recover.

Can you sign in Xbox live with a different E-mail account?

So, I have already an Xbox Live user and my E-mail account I used to sign in Xbox Live is about to close. Can I use a different E-mail account to sign in Live with the same user?

It's important, because I have all my achievements/ plus friends in this user and I cannot try it out, because I have not created another E-mail account, yet.

ok, so a while back LIVE sent me a message over xbox live and said that i needed to enter in a security code for my account so no one else could sign in to it. i ignored it. a few days ago i was at my friends house and i couldnt download my account. an error code popped up. now when i try to sign in to xbox live on my computer, it makes me go through all this crap. my email hooked up to xbox live is hotmail and it is microsoft too. i have to enter that stuff in my hotmail account too! Help!

 

Hey there, so can you still sign-in to the account through the PC? Here is the support article for the error you provided though I'm not sure how much help it will be if you can't sign-in:

No I can not log into the account using the pc. Is there any other helpful websites there would be for me to find out what the email used for the account was?

 

They only options you have to see what the MS account is on a gamertag is here:

You might have to fill out the account recovery form to get the account back and failing that you will most likely need to contact phone support to see if they can retrieve the email for you by verifying other information that might be on the gamertag like
billing info etc.
