Xbox is telling me to get Gold even though I have it?

Another way to attempt to fix this, is to remove the account from the xbox in settings->accounts-> remove accounts. Sorry you cannot remove your tag from other consoles remotely but you can require a password on all consoles via your computer.

Now, this link says it's for the 360 so ensure that your Xbox One is turned off or your gamertag is signed out before you do this to ensure that it works for the Xbox One.

Try removing your account from your xbox then adding yourself back on. It will fetch your friends data from the cloud and should refresh your friends list.

In that case I might suggest trying to remove your account from both consoles then re-add them. After that try to add the home console.

Please keep in mind that you can not remove accounts from your friends xbox remotely. You would need to change your password.

Hello, regarding your explanation you will need to actually ask your friend to first remove you from their microsoft family.

Please ask them to follow the steps on this link in order to remove it Xbox Support.

After your account your removed from their microsoft family you can then try adding it to one with an account that you can access.

You could try going into your microsoft account in a browser and removing your xbox from your devices list, then sign into your friend's xbox once it's removed. I assume, then, that it would use your friend's xbox as the home one considering it's the only
one. Only downside to doing this would be that you'll have to add your account back to your own xbox once you get home.
