Trying to purchase Xbox 360 content through Xbox.com with funds available in Microsoft Account ...

Greetings.

Arcania and some of its DLC is on sale this week and I would like to purchase it.

I have sufficient funds available in my Microsoft account (from redeeming MSoft points as well as gift cards) but when I go to purchase Arcania or its DLC the only payment options listed to me are my PayPal account and Mastercard.

When I check my profile on commerce.microsoft.com it lists my balance, which is sufficient. This is also corroborated on my Xbox 360 when I check there. However, I would like to make the purchase through Xbox.com so that the transaction is attributed to
my primary Xbox 360 and the automatic download starts when I turn that one on.

In the end I could just go and grab my profile, put it on my primary 360 and do the transaction there, but in the past I have been able to purchase through Xbox.com and would like to do so again.

Thanks for any help you can offer me.

How can I equip a gift card amount on the Xbox store ?

You can't use a Microsoft account balance to purchase backwards compatible titles through the Xbox One or xbox.com. You have to purchase them on a Xbox 360 console using this balance.

Support is partially incorrect. Moderators only police the forums and don't have access to your account. Since those are 360 games you would need to make the purchases on the 360 console in order to use the funds on your account. If you're trying to make
the purchases on the One or through xbox.com you will not be able to use your Microsoft account balance as a payment option.

The website has not been updated to use the new currency system yet. The only way to use that money is by making the purchase through the console.

If you intend to use the MSA funds for this purchase, you will need to do it directly from the console.

If you have a particular console you want to download it to first, you will, as you said, have to move the profile there and do it from there so that console gets the console licence.

Or if you have enough reward points to redeem for a credit, you can do that too, but you will need to use Bing everyday to get enough points

It's not possible to purchase 360 content with funds on your Microsoft account balance on the One or xbox.com. Only through the 360.

It could depend on what he's been trying to buy. If he's trying to purchase 360 content on the One, a Microsoft account balance is not available for those purchases. If he's been trying to purchase One content and it's not allowing the use of the funds,
you'd want to make sure he also has enough to cover taxes. If there is enough in the account and it still doesn't allow the purchase, you would want to contact support and speak to billing. http://beta.support.xbox.com/contact-us

Once funds are added to an account, they can not be removed/refunded.

As long as the content is still available for purchase, yes that would work. The gift card would just add funds to your Microsoft account balance which can be used in the Xbox store on the 360, One, etc.
