Trying to purchase Japanese DLC for Japanese game.

I got Dragon Ball Xenoverse imported from Japan, and want to get the new DLC for it. But when I try to use my debit card, it just tells me I can't use that card. What's up with that?

Physical location: United States

Xbox One Region-settings: Japan

If I could just use it to add funds to my account and pay from there, I'd do so, but I can't find such an option (I am new to Xbox, so I may not know where to look).

I've done this on my Japanese Nintendo consoles many times before, with no problems, so what's going on?

I am not interested in buying a pre-paid points card.

no as stated by the sticky you MUST make the correct region account and use the correct region disk japanese dlc will not work with a US disk



in this case japanese account + japanese disk + japanese region = download and gameplay

us disk + japanese account + japanese region = region compatibility

us disk + us account + japanese region = region compatibility and not availiable in your region

Why would XBox want to release some "Good Japanese Games"?

The market is already saturated with great Japanese games from home grown Japanese companies such as Nintendo and Sony.

Microsoft new what they were doing not wasting their time with a great big Japanese launch. As I said in another thread, they're not trying to break the Japanese market but rather offer the Janpanese market a break.

 

Sorry to hear you're having issues. However, in order to purchase items from a different region your billing info must match the region settings. This means that your credit card must have been issued in Japan.

Also, please be aware that having funds in your account or having a Japanese credit card does not mean that you will get receipt of an item purchased. Some items are region locked and cannot be downloaded to a region other than where it was originally intended.

 

Excuse me? Visa cards work internationally, as other users I've found about have confirmed with this with Xbox One.

I know my Visa card isn't restricted by Region, as I frequently use it with my Japanese-Region-Locked consoles and for other purchases.

Or are you saying that Microsoft adds further Region Lock on even the ability to buy their services? I find this very hard to believe.

This is VERY confusing.
