Trying to play vice city on xbox 360 slim

Hi I have a xbox 360 slim and recently bought an official Microsoft hard drive in order to play gta vice city from the xbox however it will not work, I have tried everything on the website.

it recognises the game when I put it in but then comes up saying unable to play game contact xbox support

360S won't play original Xbox games?

So My girlfriend bought me a 360 slim for Christmas after my original one bit the dust. I love the thing but I just tried to play GTA vice city today and it is telling me that I need to connect a Xbox 360 Hard drive to play this game. I have the 4gb version
with enough room on it to play this game. seems non of my original games will work now. Am i stuck now?

 

Can I play old Xbox games (discs not download) on my Xbox 360?

I had the old white Xbox 360 when I downloaded GTA: SA from the XBL marketplace. Now that I have the 4gb internal HDD Xbox 360, it says that I need an external HDD to play old school Xbox games. I play to buy an external HDD next week and re-download GTA:
SA, but I also wanna play GTA: Vice City. I don't think GTA: Vice City is on the XBL marketplace and I was thinking, what if I get the physical copy of the game? Can I use the physical copy of an Xbox game (the disc) to play on my 360?

 

There isn't an official 120gb hard drive for the 360 slim so it's your hard drive that's the issue.

There's only 250gb,320gb & 500gb official Microsoft hard drives.

 

there is 120gb ones, mine has loaded as Microsoft hard drive, before I put hard drive in it said game will not play without official hard drive when I put hard drive in the message read unable to load game contact xbox support

 

As Daft Badger has said, there is NO official 120gb hard drive for the slim. 250gb, 320gb and now 500gb are the only sizes of official hard drives for the slim and E models.

 

The only official Microsoft 120gb hard drives are for the old pro & elite model 360's,it is not compatible with the 360 slim.

The hard drive you have is not an official one & that is why you can't play backward compatible games.
