Trying to play movies from a flash drive and can't find the app

I searched Google and it took me to links telling me about the "media player preview" app. I've tried finding the app in the Xbox store but can't find it even searching that specific title under apps. Any help is appreciated.

USB Flash Drive not being Detected?

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to use. But in that App, and even the media player app the USB Flash Drive doesn't show up.

There is some specific criteria your media needs to meet in your USB in order for it to play media through the app, click this link and it'll give you all the
info on the media player app and what it can do

I'm sorry, I think you misunderstood. The media isn't the problem. The files are avi and mkv and it's a USB 2.0 flash drive so it should be supported as of your link. What I'm referring to is the app to play the files itself. I can't find the app in the
Xbox store that plays the files I'm talking about. The app I saw on YouTube when I searched my issue through Google was called media player preview, but I can't find that app in the Xbox store. If I could get the app, playing the files would be a nonissue.

I believe the App should be on your console by default it's just called "Media Player". I was able to search it in the store on my Xbox itself as "Media player" so you should be able to find it there

Hi there,

as far as I know there is no way to transfer those to the hdd from the console.

You can however use a usb flash drive with the movies, so copy the movies to the sub thum drive, and try if the movies can be played on the console.
