    Trying to play any game on Game Pass Force Restarts computer within 30sec-5min of...


    Hi there

    Trying to play any game on Game Pass through the Xbox App Force Restarts computer within 30sec-5min of playing. No BSOD, just forced restart, no obvious error messages in event viewer (bar improper shut down error.) This doesn't happen with any other game played through something other than the Xbox App (ie through Steam or independent game, does not happen with any other program while using computer. Have run heat monitoring program, memory diagnostic etc. Only happens with games in Xbox App.)

    Tried the whole, reset, repair Xbox App, verify game files. Then uninstalled App and games and reinstalled, still broken.

    I have tried all of the methods listed in the following posts on the forums here:

    None of them work. Still force restarts.

    (Happens on all of the following so far: State of Decay 2, Deep Rock Galactic, Chivalry 2, TABS, MechWarrior 5, Crusader Kings III)

    Ram: 16 GBs 3200 MHz

    SSD: 500gb-m2-nvme-ssd

    PSU: Cooler Master V 750W 80Plus Gold Full Modular Power Supply

    Turn off auto game clip saving?

    If something cool happens within 5 minutes just say "Xbox Snap Game DVR" then select "End Recording" then select the length time you want ie 30sec, 1min, 3mins, 5mins.

    When I first got my Xbox, the game DVR was flawless. Recording clips in PvZ, Bf4, and Titanfall. But lately the only time the DVR works is when im playing games offline, and it automatically records certain moments. But as soon as you go online or try to
    manually record a clip in any form, it just wont respond. Yelling "xbox record that," the dialog box pops up, but does not record any amount of time, nor does the 5min-30sec manual record works. The Game DVR is more frustrating then anything!

    I understand that you are experiencing the problem of your computer freezing and force restarting while playing the game, and generally speaking, it is mainly the overheating processor that causes the computer to keep restarting. You can send me the log file by clicking on the private message via the advanced tools below the post:

    Can you share blue screen logs with me via private message? I will enable access to private messages for you.



    Check for .dmp files in the C:\Windows\Minidump directory.

    If so, package these files. Since these files detail exactly what happened when your system crashed, this will help us solve your problem. If not, run the following command to try to enable it. Win logo key + Q, open the search box, type "cmd", then right-click on the command prompt, select "Run as administrator") and enter the following command.

    wmic recoveros set DebugInfoType=3
    This is required to enable blue screen logging. You should try to access the C:\Windows\Minidump directory to see if there are .dmp files after the following blue screen appears.

    • Is it true that the computer only does this when playing games?
    • Is your computer a desktop or a laptop?
    • You can press Windows+R and type msinfo32 to view the specific information of the computer.

    1. Update the drivers

    You can go to the official website of the computer you purchased to download all the drivers, cover and install them, and do not use third-party drivers.

    2. Perform a clean boot

    Type msconfig in the taskbar, and select System Configuration, then select Hide All Microsoft Services, Disable All, select Apps, on the Startup tab, select Open Task Manager, on the Startup tab, Disable for Startup Items, and then close Task Manager, refer to the link:
