Trying to move existing gamertag to my current account.

I'm trying to move an existing gamertag that I've used since 2007 to this Microsoft account but I was given a gamertag before I could do so. This Microsoft account is what signs me into my computer and I'd like to have my actual gamertag connected to this
Microsoft account to make everything easier on me. I don't care what happens to this gamertag at all, I just need my main one and I'll be happy.

Thanks for the feedback, however I don't think I've made myself quite clear.

I'm trying to move the gamertag to a separate, already existing, Microsoft Account - I'm not trying to rename my existing Microsoft Account. I'm essentially trying to do what is under the step "Switch your gamertag to a different Microsoft account" which
is documented at the link below, but from the web or from within windows 8 seeing as a I don't have an xbox console.:

Switching to another Windows live id.

I've been trying to move my current gamertag to my new email address. Unfortunately, I created a new gamertag when registering my gmail to live, so I couldn't move it.

So I've also tried to move my gamertag of my gmail account to a unused live id, but it gave me an error which states: "Sorry, you can change your Windows Live ID only once every 30 days, and it can't be changed in the first 30 days of creating your account".
Weird, since I haven't used this gamertag in months.

 

Hello, what you would need to do is change the email address associated with the GT you want to use. So if the email address you want to use is tied to another GT you'd also need to move that GT to another email address to free up the one you want to use.

Just to clarify what Bowski has stated above. The email address you are using to sign into BidRainDrop on xbox.com needs to be freed up first. Follow the steps in the support link provided above to help you do that. Once you have freed up that email address
you can then use it for your main profile.
