Trying to make Microsoft wireless microphones to work on windows 7 or 10

Hello,

I'm trying to connect a wireless Microsoft microphone to one of my PCs (windows 7 or 10, I have both).

My remote controllers are working fine.

When the microphone links up with my computer I got no error. But when I try to see what it is recording, the audio level is staying at

the top, just as if there was some loud background noise. It does not catch anything in reality, it is just a bug. It simply does not work.

Taking a closer look, I can see that the peripheral

XBOX_360_DEVICE_00:07 is using the "generic usb drivers"

When I try to force the Xbox audio device drivers, the drivers won't install, and throws that it is impossible to set the driver. (windows 7 or 10). It is saying that while installing the driver, it went into an error when trying to install it. It is missing
an entry to make it work. It might have been written for a previous version of windows (translated from french, as the computer is set to use french)

The ID of the microphone is : USB\VID_045E&PID_0291&IA_07\6&DCD19AE&0&07

I acquired 2 microphones, and both do the exact same issue.

The issue and the error is EXACTLY the same whether I use a windows 7 or a windows 10 computer.

I really was hoping those to work on windows, as it is what it is said on Xbox pages.

So :

The system sees the microphone

It pushes a generic audio driver, which does not work

It won't allow me to install the Xbox driver

The issue is the same on windows 10 & 7

I have 2 microphone, the chances that both are broken is close to nothing. My receiver works well as I can use it for remote controllers

Xbox 360 wireless microphone work on Win10 with wireless receiver or not ?

My question is simple ! I saw those beautiful Microsoft Xbox360 wireless microphone with lights from the “lips” Game in a store. I would like to purchase them for playing karaoke game on my Win10 PC !

I have a Microsoft wireless receiver for it, and it work great with my 360 controllers. Question is, does windows recognize the microphone ???

When you try to install the drivers, do you get a specific error message or code? If so, can you provide that to us? That information can help us look into what may be causing the issue. Also, not sure where you are installing your drivers from but can you
try downloading them from
this site to see if it helps any? And finally, I'm not sure if you've seen it or not but we do have a guide for

troubleshooting the wireless receiver for Windows. Definitely read through that and work through the steps they provide. Hopefully one of them does the trick for you.

When installing the drivers (win 7) I did not have any specific error message. I did get the drivers from microsoft. My wireless game controllers are working fine. Only the Xbox 360 microphone does not want to work.

I did not have to install the drivers for the w10 computer, as they are built-in the system (version of drivers : 10.1.14393.0 date 07/15/2016 by microsoft)

We can focus on the windows 10 computer if you don't mind, like that we don't have to bother on which driver is beeing used.

In the devices, I can see the device under game controller : XBOX_360_DEVICE_00:07

But as I said, the drivers associated to the device is the USB generic audio driver, and not the Xbox driver.

The system won't let me force in the Xbox drivers, it fails as if the drivers were written for a previous version of windows.

In the eventvwr, I can see the following entry :

La gestion des pilotes a terminé le processus d’installation du pilote wdma_usb.inf_amd64_134cb113911feba4\wdma_usb.inf pour l’ID d’instance de périphérique USB\VID_045E&PID_0291&IA_07\6&DCD19AE&0&07 avec le statut suivant : 0xE0000219.

which can be translated to

The driver management has finished the installation process of the driverwdma_usb.inf_amd64_134cb113911feba4\wdma_usb.inf for the instance ID of the device USB\VID_045E&PID_0291&IA_07\6&DCD19AE&0&07 with the status : 0xE0000219.

The device (microphone) is recognized with this ID :USB\VID_045E&PID_0291&IA_07\6&DCD19AE&0&07

If I find anything more, I will add it here.
