    Trying to get Java edition for granddaughter


    Please be patient this is new to me. I have a dell with windows 10. I signed up for Xbox game pass for pc and then downloaded the Minecraft launcher but it appears to open regular Minecraft and not Java edition. I’ve been clicking links on Microsoft for hours and keep going in circles but can’t seem to find the Java version that should be free with my pc game pass

    Just to clarify, did you purchase the Bedrock version for a console and are trying to get the Java version?

    Or was the "Minecraft for Windows" edition you purchased?

    If you purchased the "For Windows" edition, you can get Java simply by signing in here; the button to get the full edition should appear.

    No, you needed to have owned bedrock edition or java edition on PC to get one either. Java edition is only available on PC too.

    So the issue is not to create the account now, is that you wanna get the Minecraft Java edition on your account

    Only the account that made the purchase of the bedrock edition can get the java edition for free

    Yes, for Java edition. My gamertag for microsoft doesn't have a capital M. Also to note, the account i'm trying to use is also java edition, not something different.

    Everyone who bought the bedrock edition has the access to Java edition, you just need to migrate the Mojang account to a Microsoft account, which gets you access to the java edition.
