    Trying to download Sea of Thieves onto my laptop from the Microsoft Store and the Xbox App,...


    When I press the 'Install' button, it says 'Downloading' for a few seconds then says 'Error' and cancels the installation. It's the same with both installing it onto my laptop (CTrying to download Sea of Thieves onto my laptop from the Microsoft Store and the Xbox App,... :) and onto an external hard drive (DTrying to download Sea of Thieves onto my laptop from the Microsoft Store and the Xbox App,... :). I have been able to download Sea of Thieves onto this same laptop before, so I'm not entirely sure what's changed.

    This is a list of the things I have tried so far (as per advice from multiple pages of the Microsoft Support site, various forums and YouTube videos):

    - Restarted laptop

    - Ran the Gaming Services Repair Tool in the Xbox App

    - Troubleshooted the Microsoft Store

    - Disabled antivirus software temporarily (as per website instructions)

    - Reset Microsoft Store and Xbox App through system settings

    - Signed out of Xbox App and Microsoft Store then signed back in

    - Ran the [sfc /scannow] command in cmd

    - Reformatted the external drive into NTFS (twice)

    - Ran the [wsreset.exe] command

    - Used the following commands in Windows PowerShell as administrator: [get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers] [start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN]

    - Made sure IP Helper, Windows Updates, Xbox Accessory Management, Xbox Live Auth Manager, Xbox Live Game Safe, Xbox Live Networking Service, Microsoft Store Install Service and Gaming Services were all running

    - Opened inetcpl.cpl and made sure TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 were running

    Xbox game pass

    I think it is because you are trying to download Sea of thieves instead of the anniversary edition.

    Try this:

    Open the Microsoft Store(No the gamepass app), then search for Sea of thieves: Anniversary Edition and try to download that.

    For Sea of Thieves, are you trying to download it through the Xbox App or Microsoft Store app? If you've tried one but not the other, try the other and see if it'll work there.

    EA Play will be added to Game Pass for PC on December 15.

    Im not on xbox, im on windows 10 but there was no option for that so I choose xbox and games...

    I am using the microsoft store app. What is the xbox beta app and how can I download sea of thieves and other stuff from it.

    EDIT: So the xbox beta app worked for me but I still cant download anything from the microsoft store!

    Can't install Sea of Thieves from the Xbox Game Pass

    open the windows store and search sea of thieves, see if one of them will let you download. as windows 10 xbox app uses the store to download.

    Hi! The reply HaZe gave you is compatible with both PC & Console.

    In addition, you can try signing into the account you use for your xbox & trying to download Sea of Thieves from the Microsoft Store.
