Trying to change gamertag but keep getting suffix?

the GT already exists that's the reason why the suffix appears to you, but don't be alarmed for everyone the name appears, the number series is just so that the system doesn't confuse them and that can bring you problems or someone can log into your account

The system doesn't see things like spaces as making a gamertag unique. So yes, since someone else has the tag, you'll be given the suffix.

If you are keeping the suffix, it must be because the GT already exists.

I have noticed that since the gamertag system was updated that there are more issues than there used to be when creating a new gamertag. I had a friend who had to try spelling a gamertag twenty different ways before he did not have a suffix on the end
of it.
