Trying to add friends on xbox live

I just recently signed my son up for xbox live and now I'm trying to add his friends, but I keep getting an error message that tells me to go to xbox.com/support. Does anyone know why I would get this message. Could my parental restrictions be an issue?
I give my password stating its okay to add a particular friend.

Help Please

Are you on an xbox 360 and trying to add xbox one users? If so, once you send the friend request the user you are trying to add would need to view their friends list on xbox.com. There they will see your request under pending xbox 360 requests.

I'm sorry to hear about the issue. Try this to help you
add new friends on Xbox. If you still have issues, how many friends are on your list? On Xbox, you can have up to 1,000 Xbox friends. If you do exceed the amount, try to

manage your friends list.

I understand that you are experiencing an issue with inviting your friends to a 1v1 friendly game. I'm here to help you with that.

Firstly, I would like to ask if you have added the friends you want to invite to your Xbox Live friends list? If not, you will need to add them as friends before you can invite them to play with you. Here are the steps to add friends on Xbox Live:

1. Sign in to your Xbox Live account.

2. Go to the Friends tab on the Xbox dashboard.

3. Select "Add Friend".

4. Enter the gamertag or email address of the person you want to add as a friend.

5. Select "Add Friend" again to send the friend request.

Once your friend has accepted your friend request, you should be able to invite them to play with you. If you have already added your friends and are still experiencing the issue, please try the following steps:

1. Sign out of your Xbox Live account.

2. Restart your Xbox console.

3. Sign back in to your Xbox Live account.

4. Try inviting your friends again.

If the issue persists, you may need to check your Xbox Live privacy settings. Here are the steps to check your privacy settings:

1. Sign in to your Xbox Live account.

2. Go to the Settings tab on the Xbox dashboard.

3. Select "Privacy & online safety".

4. Select "Xbox Live privacy".

5. Check that your settings allow you to play with friends.

If your privacy settings are set to "Blocked" or "Friends only", you may need to change them to "Everyone" to be able to play with your friends.

Hi there. Try clearing your update cache on the console, sign out and back into xbox LIVE then try to add your friend again. Have you tried adding them via xbox.com?
