Actually the warranty begins from the day you purchase it. Whether you get as a gift at a later date. The warranty always starts from date of purchase.

To add to NeonDan123's post, if you entered your date of birth and at a later date attempted to change it to that of an adult, it will not work. If the original date of birth shows you as a minor, then you will not be able to purchase adult content. Your
date of birth is locked to your account and will naturally progress to adult when you turn 18 (20 in South Korea and Japan)
