Uninstall and reinstall the game to see if this resolves the issue: Press the Xbox  button on your controller to open the dashboard, then click My Games & Apps > View All.
Under Games or Applications, highlight the title of the game you want to uninstall.
Click the Menu button  on the controller.
Click Uninstall > Uninstall All.
To reinstall:
Press the Xbox  button on your controller to open the dashboard, then click My Games & Apps > View All > Games or Apps.
For a game, click Full Library > All Owned Games, or within an app, click Full Library > All Owned Apps and highlight the game or app you want to reinstall.
Press the Menu button  and for a game, click Manage Game & Add-ons > Ready to Install, or for an app, click Manage App > Ready to Install, and for a game, click Install All, or for an App, click Install.
A progress bar will inform you of the installation status.
Once the game is reinstalled, try playing the game and see if the issue persists.

Something to try is to see if it makes a difference if you use a (different) usb storage device for a game or app.

Ok, try this, log out the Xbox app and then log with a different account, after that launch the game and try to play again

A different test could be using a different device in the same network and the same account

thank you for your response!

I play on a PC and used the XBOX-App to play the game. Signing out in the app (as well as in the browser from xbox.com) and trying it again in the app after signing back in was to no avail.

Starting the game on a different browser on a different device showed the same result.

Is there anything else I could try?
