    Troubleshooting Headset Connectivity

I've been using MS products since Win95. I've connected various headsets for use on the same platforms. On each platform, there is a way to troubleshoot whether or not your headset is actually working before you dive into a project where one is needed. However
connecting a headset on your Xbox 360/360S, or probably even the Xbox One, wireless or otherwise, comes with no such troubleshooting step. The only way you find out if youre connected is when one of your friends keeps telling you they cant hear you! For me
to spend serious cash on a premium headset only to find out it isn't working on Xbox Live is disappointing to say the least.

Can someone from Tech Support please forward this to someone in Prod Development? the options to connect Chat on XBLive are so limited that its just preposterous. there is no mechanism to imply your even connected until your in a game or party. I mean, if
you need the Xbox 360 adapter, and youre still not able to chat, you just wasted $20 plus however much you spend on the headset. wouldn't it make sense to have a connections optimizer style add on ( like the system/network settings) to tell you youre all set
for Chat? what if your XBA adapter has issues? again you wont know until youre in game if its actually working. on most Turtle Beach sets, you only hear yourself in the headset until someone else starts talking. theres nothing to tell you that youre not outputting
    any voice chat.

    :)

Hey there, ReckRoom! To test out the mic on an Xbox 360, you will want to record a voice message and see if that works. You can find the instructions on our
Xbox 360 Wired Headset Troubleshooting page. On the Xbox One, you will want to test the headset with the instructions on our

    Xbox One Chat Headset Troubleshooting
page. You can also try out a Skype call and see if the mic works there.

If you would like to make a suggestion about having it run this test immediately when you plug in the headset, I highly suggest making a post up on our
Feedback site. This is the best avenue for these types of posts, and will get your voice heard the best by the engineers. You can also peruse the site for items that are marked completed or in progress. This is all thanks

Hey TimelyAuthor197! What kind of headset are you using? Is it physically connected to the controller? Does the same issue occur on a different controller or with a different headset? Post back and let us know!

I seem to be having the same problem. I have the Xbox One Chat Headset (Which I got with my Xbox One). I physically connected it to the bottom of the controller. I tried on both of my Xbox One Controllers and I only have this headset (I got plenty more but
Xbox doesn't support AUX :/). When the headset is connected and I keep clicking the + button, I start hearing "ping" like noises which I assume means I reached Maximum Volume, that's however the only thing I was able to hear

    Headset Troubleshooting

I'm having the same issue. I purchased the Microsoft XB1 headset and it worked fine for about a month. All of a sudden i couldn't hear or talk to any one else but i could hear the game play. The mic does light up and acknowledges that im speaking into the
mic. Gamestop did replace one set and the new set worked for about 3 minutes but its now doing the same thing. I spent 1 hour on the phone with xbox support but no solution was found. I hope someone can find the solution to this.
