Trouble with new xbox one not always recognising discs

After I posted this, I tried inserting one of the new backwards compatible game discs (Max Payne 2, from the original Xbox console) into my Xbox One X, and got the same error message. As soon as I connected the Xbox One X to my phone hotspot and reinserted the disc, it recognised it immediately and started downloading. I then switched back to my normal internet via local WiFi and it recognised the disc still.

I have no idea why this would fix it? I am sorry if this hasn't worked for you.

Gotcha. Since this is happening with multiple discs, please also try these steps if you're having

trouble playing a disc on your Xbox One console.

Just to be clear:

The disc drive will flat out not recognise a disc in the drive if its of the old disc format. Games in the new disc format will play 100% every time perfectly well.

Hi there - have you tried cleaning the disc? Does the Xbox recognise the disc as Skate 3?

Do you own any other Xbox 360 BC game discs are they currently working on your console?

For game to be recognised and download started you must:

• Have working game disc, free from dirt and damage
• Your Xbox One must have a working optical drive

If you don't have any other 360 discs, check if your console can read DVD discs. Place a DVD movie into your console and see if it will play. The disc must be a DVD, not a Blu-ray or Xbox One disc.

If it can recognise other Xbox 360 BC game discs and DVD movies, then the fault must be with that particular disc. If your console can not read any 360 BC disc or DVD's, then you have a faulty console.
