    Trouble with headset and adapters


    Hey I'm having some trouble with my headset and adapters. I had my original Xbox one controller with adapter in that stopped working I could hear the game through the headset but not people in the party or game and no one could hear me. I checked the controller
    and accessories were up to date and I wasn't muted and so on but still nothing. I went out and got a new controller and a new headset this time with the keyboard adapter and after 2 weeks it's doing it again.

    Help I now have 3 controllers and 3 headsets and none of which will work right with the adapters. Thank you.

    Xbox One Wireless Headset.

    Turtle Beach and other headset manufacturers are working with MS to put out adapters that will make you able to use your new/old wireless/wired headsets. I think turtle beach will also be releasing new wireless headsets as well. I believe the dates they
    are giving for the new headsets and adapters is February.

    Hey there minimed78.

    Sorry to hear about the headset troubles! Does your son have the chatpad adapter in between the headset and controller or is he plugging directly into the controller? If there's an adapter in between in may be worth trying the headset with a controller that
    doesn't need the adapter, or test a different adapter.

    Are you directly connected in Jack ?

    If so, I advise you to buy the xbox adapter for headsets.

    Some headsets have a lot of trouble working without them.

    Sounds like your adapter might be using the other plug standard (OMTP) than the one the Xbox is expecting (CTIA). That's the case with other headsets like Beats or Apple Earpods that have trouble with the microphone not working. If that's the case, you'll
    need an adapter to convert your adapter to the correct standard.

    Plugged straight into the controller
    Ever since I went and bought a headset adapter I've had no trouble with mic or headset so it may be the 3.5mm socket that's causing you problems.

    Do you happen to know if the adapter you're using is CTIA or is OMTP? To check on that, take a look at this

    Xbox One Compatible Headset Troubleshooter     and cross-check your adapter. If you're using an OMTP adapter you may run into some trouble with chat.
