Trouble updating a local profile to Live

Hi,

My daughter started the process of creating a Live account with her XBox profile, but because she requires parent permission, had to cancel and do it on the web instead. We got through the whole process, but now when we go back to the console's "Sign In/Create
Acount" screen and click "Sign In," it doesn't ask for her email address or password – it just goes back to the profile screen without signing her in to Live. I don't want to create her XBox profile on the web because I want her to be able to keep her local
saved games and achievements and things.

What can I do?

Hey there Nikodemus,

Sorry to hear there was some confusion when you tried to sign up for Xbox Live.

There is not a way to completely delete the account, but you should be able to contact
Phone Support and work with them to get the information removed and put on your original account. Once you have the e-mail and phone separated from your new profile you should be able to associate
it to your old profile when you sign up using that Dashboard option.

I do want to warn you that since you've already redeemed those codes on your new profile you won't be able to redeem them again on your old profile.

 

Trouble connecting to live, downloadin profile

Same problems here in ohio. I've actually had immense trouble downloading my profile after deleting it. I've had trouble connecting to xbox live. It seems when I test my connection It's something different every time. I do not have TWC though, I'm using
a local provider called Hometown Service.

 

Every minor's account requires parent's permission for the xbox live service to be available. This is for the minors protection.

 

Yes, I know. I already created a Live account for her, and went through the parental verification step. Her Live account works in a browser just fine. What I *can't* do is get the XBox to give me the sign in screen. I click "Sign In" and it takes me right
back to the profile selection screen without prompting for an email address/password.

Final word from the rep I chatted with was:

Hmm. So, I'm really sorry about this, but since COPPA went into place (the child protection act that requires the parental $0.50 verification) you can't create a child account out of an already existing offline profile.

So that means, you would either need to turn her already existing account into an adult profile, or create a whole new child account, which wouldn't have the achievements she previously unlocked on the offline profile.

So, basically, lie about her age or make her lose all her achievements. Awesome implementation, MS.

 

i have the same issue and its past ridiculous...i understand the coppa thing but why cant you do it all by signing in to your live profile and then create a child profile from a local one....either that or allow people to link the 2 together by signing into
the local profile with the email and password associated to the xbox live account
