Trouble trying to change DNS to Google's.

Black Ops 3 Beta was downloading very very slowly. So i tried changing my DNS settings to Google 8.8.8.8. Would enter it manually, but it would not save when i pressed save and reverted to the automatic DNS. what should I do?

1. Changing your DNS can improve your download speed but it is not simply because you changed DNS. What happens is if your ISP DNS is bad it can resolve you to node that is not well suited for what you are trying to do. If your ISP DNS is not good this can improve your download speeds.
2. As it is more likely you hit the Xbox live download cap vs Dns issues. Depending on load the Xbox live server can limit your download speed.
3. As Indie stated there is a chance that you had ERA's(exclusive resource apps) running and that will limit your download speed.
4. Changing your DNS to google or Open DNS opens you up to information collection by google for selling to ad companies. At 1 point Cloud fare was offering free dns with a privacy policy.

 

Xbox won't connect after 12:01 because of dns servers

What country/region/state do you live in?

Who is your Internet provider?

Could you try and manually change the primary DNS server to that of Google's public DNS server and let us know if this works.

 

Same issue, can't log in to Destiny. Multiple games gone me dead lobbies, if I can connect at all. Very frustrating!

springfinger - your issue is different from the OP. For future reference it would be better to create a new thread detailing your specific issue. In the meantime, please try holding the power button for 10 seconds until the console shuts down to see if
that helps. As for Destiny, double check the error code you receive on Bungie's support page to see if you can get any help there.
