    Trouble reading a disc


    I'm experiencing a problem where I have to insert and eject Battlefield 1 (and just BF1) several times before it will read the disc. When it does, I hear aloud click. I hesitate to call it grinding but then it plays without problem until I eject it and reinsert
    it.

    Any other disc I put in (DVD, BluRay, or game) seems to work just fine. I had the same problem a couple of,years ago with the same Xbox and then it was BF4.

    Is this something I need to send in for repair since it is just centered on one game?

    Have you cleaned your games lately? because I share my games with my children I make it a point to clean them about once a week. Only use water and a soft cloth (no paper towels!) and don't wipe them in a circular pattern (wipe out from the center). One
    other question-any chance your discs are cracked? Even tiny cracks can make a disc unreadable.

    Most likely silentkill is right and your disc reader is busted. Good Luck.

    My xbox wont read any of my discs, when I put a disc in, it makes noises and then says open tray, after a few times, it will say unrecognisable disc but none of my game will actually load up, it sometimes makes the noise that usually happens when a game
    is loading up but will then say open tray/unrecognisable disc, anything I can do to fix this without having to spend loads of money?

    you could possibly have something inside your Xbox on the lens that reads your games, you can purchase lens cleaners quite cheaply try this before you assume your disc reader is broken, i could save you money.

    Sorry to tell you, but i think your xbox disc reader is broken. You can request a repair here:

    Or if you are still in shop waranty go to the shop and ask a new console. (Dont forget to transfer your data!)

    Eliminate all the obvious solutions before parting with your console for repair.

    • Basically to start some TLC is needed. Unplug your console and storage devices (sometimes USB devices can be a factor) blow/clean out the vents and ports. Be sure not to touch any connections, just use a dry dust cloth or vacuum or air can. When you’re
      done re-position both your console and psu somewhere with adequate ventilation.
    • Test different games and formats like DVD movies and music CDs. If it’s having trouble reading discs use a lens cleaner several times and test again. ‘Hopefully it was just some dirt’. If you were having issues with music CDs I’d recommend you check out

    have you tried using a CD laser cleaner that you can buy from any good retailer or online for 1-4 pounds on ebay or cheap stores i.e. discount

    this is to make sure that its just dirty and this can be the cause
