Trouble downloading halo

Hi, i have preordered the digital copy of halo master chief collection and my download is stuck at 32%. My internet is very slow but it should be downloading. It has been as high as 38% but when my console is restarted it goes back to 32%. My monthly D/L
limit is only 100gb and this download is eating away at 1gb per hour can anyone help me out?

Hey Kuri, sorry to hear about the troubles with Halo 3! Have you tried deleting and then re-downloading those maps, to see if that clears up the issue?

 

Trouble Downloading

So, I recently tried downloading a compatibility pack for the game Borderlands 2. Part way through the download, I lost connection to xbox live. Since then, I can NOT get the thing to download. It has given me a variety of reasons, one of which apparently
being "your credit card info couldn't be retrieved. Buy this item with money in your Microsoft account or try again later". Firstly, my credit card worked for another purchase I made shortly after this error began, and secondly, the compatibility pack is free.
So I'm not sure what's going on here. I've cleared my cache, deleted the partially downloaded pack, tried a license transfer, tried downloading from settings > account > downloads, tried again from in game (both ways), and I'm STILL getting this error. Anyone
know a fix?

 

Edit* My dad is also downloading it at his and has stopped at 32% the same

 

I would be curious to know if anything has happened with your download progress in the last few hours. My initial thought would be, most games today install the game itself AND updates simultaneously (which is why it takes so long to install from disc sometimes.)
The Digital Preload process installs the game and any available updates between now and the release date, so it is possible the game installs to a specific point, and then also begins applying a patch in the background, which effectively stalls the main "install"
process. Since you and your father are BOTH having this same issue, this is what my guess would be.

For example, on a disc based game, when installing, the % will get to a certain number, then hang until the updates are downloaded and applied, at which point the installation percentage continues until complete. If that's what's happening with your digital
dl, then you'll get to a point where the 32% begins increasing again, and the install should finish normally. (The "hang" of the install is very alarming when it happens for the first time and you aren't sure what's causing it, believe me, I understand!)

Please let us know what has happened in the last few hours, if the game continued to install for you!

 

I was getting worried by the fact it was downloading something but nothing was happening so I paused tho download until I got a solid answer as I don't want to use my months worth of internet in the first 10 days of the month.

 

I see. Unfortunately, I don't know that there will be too much of a way around that, as the game itself is 45 GB, and the day one patch is 15 GB, so no matter what, when you do get to download and install, it's going to take up 60 GB of your bandwidth cap.

Does your ISP provide a method for checking your data usage? I know with Comcast I can log into my account and go to services, which shows me the quantity of the 250GB cap I've used. By doing this, you would be able to see how much data you've used. Figuring
32% of the total, you should have used up 14.4 GB (32% of the full 45) plus perhaps a little more if it was also downloading a patch in the background. At the very most, you shouldn't have downloaded more than 19.2 GB (32% of the total size of 45GB + the 15GB
patch.)

It is impossible that I would have hit 50gb already if it has only taken up 19gb as you have calculated as we only use about 50gb per month anyway as a rule and it was only the 6th when I posted this. Thanks for the help tho. My dad has a much better allowance
so I am gunna plug it in at his and experiment see what is going on he says he has hit 41% now which is promising.

When I visit network settings it does say "the following service is experiencing issues:

•purchase and content usage.

So I am wondering if it is all related.

 

Scrap that he just turned it back on again its back to 32%

 

My download for Master Chief Collection is doing the exact same thing, last night it was at 70% turned it on this morning & it went back to 32%, so I left it going whilst I was a work today & it got to about 49% then jumped back to 32% again.

 

DeathMole, glad you clarified that - you hadn't previously mentioned how much of your cap had already been used, so yes, 50GB does indeed sound like a high number. I've reported this to the Alpha team to see if there's any info out there right now on this.
Keep me posted, and I'll follow up as soon as I learn more.

 

Well just had to call Microsoft as I cant physically download the game with the allowance I have left and spoke to the most unhelpful spokesman. Got the game refunded but he refused any blame on microsofts end and that the download "takes what it takes"
and he cant help if I have a cap on my download when I'm clearly not the only person having issues with this.. Not happy.

 

Hang in there. That rep clearly wasn't prepared to address the question about the download getting up to a higher percentage then resetting down to 32 every time. I'm hoping this gets resolved soon for you.

 

it could be possible that your xbox is turning off after inactivity. you can set this to never turn off, turn off after 1 hour, or turn off after 6 hours of inactivity. If you downloaded 59% and your xbox shuts down because you have the 1 or 6 hour setting
selected, maybe its reverting back to 31% as a safeguard to make sure your copy of the game isn't corrupted.. not sure if I explained my point and this is just my speculation.

 

No I turned it off myself. I have about 9 games and only 2 of them are hard copies I always used the "instant on" setting whilst downloading and this is the first time this has happened. I also mentioned my internet is very slow so we would be talking about
leaving my xbox on for up to 2 days solid, and that is in hope that it works. I don't think this should be the solution though as like ive said this is the first time ive had this problem.

I'm not trying to be negative but there is only 1 ISP where I live so having this cap is not an option, leaving me little room to try these things.
