Trouble connecting Minecraft Apple TV edition to iOS PE.

    Hi there

I have a household of Minecraft addicts. We have Minecraft on Apple TV edition, iOS Pocket edition and via a Mac Mini.

I can connect two instances of iOS PE together via the LAN games options but I can’t connect the Apple TV edition to anything nor can I connect the Mac Mini version to anything.

All devices are on the same WiFi. All devices are open to LAN multiplayer. I’ve restarted devices and routers but nothing seems to work.

About 6 months ago the Apple TV edition DID connect to iOS PE and many hours were spent collaborating in one world but something has since changed. We now have a large world that has had many hours of construction, isolated on our Apple TV edition, inaccessible
    to everyone else.

I’ve tried all solutions i’ve found on various forums but I can’t seem to get the Apple TV edition to talk to anything anymore. The different devices can see each other as they pop up on each other’s LAN games. When I try and connect I get the error message
“disconnected from server”. Each device is logged in with a separate Xbox account.

    Can anyone help?

    :)

    Minecraft problems

Hi, which version of Minecraft PC is this?

    Windows 10 edition Beta?

    Minecraft PE: Windows Phone?

    Minecraft PE: android?

    Minecraft PE: iOS?

and what is the error codes you get when trying to sign in?

Also do you have the Xbox app installed on your device?

Minecraft PE bugged/glitched out and stole $6 from me.

This has happened to me as well. Can't see coins in Minecraft PE (IOS), Apple charged me, coins not in Microsoft account purchase history. Apple says talk to Microsoft/Mojang but can't find how to report problem.

We have the same issues with the Apple products. They don't seem to be updating the Apple TV or the Mac, and it's dissapointing because we paid the same price for the game that everyone on the PC did, and the Apple TV Minecraft edition wasn't cheap. The
iOS Minecraft seems to be updated with the 'Bedrock' update, while they are holding back on the Apple TV update to even make them playable with Realms.

We used to be able to access on Apple TV, but now just have a message where Realms used to be saying "You need to update your game to continue playing Realms.", and yes it is updated, and it's been saying this for months. I need to update? It's Microsoft with
needs to update the game to be playable NOT ME. And trying to play with friends on the same network now it tries to connect and then disconnects. It's really too bad.

If I was conspiratorial, I might think they are purposefully not updating the Apple TV or Mac versions of Minecraft for some reason. Hmmm.

We have been having the exact same problem. If we try to play Realms, it says we need to update our Minecraft on Apple TV, yet it has the most recent update.

Also agree that it wasn't the cheapest app - so I'd expect a bit more support in this area. I've deleted the app and reinstalled it onto the Apple TV. No luck.

Over on the Apple Forum, they say check here. Yet there doesn't seem to be any support here so far.

    Anyone???

Thanks if you have any clue on what to do!!

Similar issue here, except trying to connect AppleTV minecraft to Windows App version. Connecting AppleTV to world hosted on Windows results in Disconnected message. Hosting world on AppleTV, I can see the world listed, but when connecting to it, I just
go back to the worlds list.

AppleTV is running 1.1.5 - latest version I assume

    Windows has 1.2.8.

Is it the mismatch in versions causing the issue?

Trouble connecting Minecraft Apple TV edition to iOS PE.

Still having same issue for the past few months...

I've started an email chain with Mojang support - but their first answer is... frustrating. Here it is in full:

"I'm sorry to hear about your problem.

Unfortunately, the two Editions cannot join each other as they use different game versions.

Please note that devices need to use the same game version in order to play multiplayer.

Best regards, Patrik S. Mojang Support"

BUT - on the XBox Minecraft support page, it clearly says the following... Minecraft | Xbox & Windows 10 Games

"Can I play with other people in my local network? Yes! You can play with anyone using a Pocket Edition of Minecraft (Windows 10, iOS, Android, and Kindle Fire), providing they’re on the same local network as your Apple TV."

    And it also says…

"You can also enjoy network play with anyone else with a Minecraft Pocket Edition: Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Minecraft: Pocket Edition for iPhone/iPad/iPod"

So - clearly the Apple TV and the iPad versions of the game CAN join.

I just replied to the Mojang support email (from above). I also posting their reply to this Forum to see what information others have. I will also post a resolution (if any).

I DID note that the AppleTV description on the App Store doesn't list the Multiplayer function, except Realms, which you have to pay for...

Perhaps Microsoft is pulling a Bait and Switch...

Looks like AppleTV may have been abandoned - at least for now. And AFTER they advertise the Multiplayer and charged $20?? I'm sending some angry emails...

Here's what the Wiki's are saying...

    Better Together Update

The Better Together Update is an update to Pocket Edition,
    Windows 10 Edition,
    Gear VR Edition,
Fire TV Edition, and a new version of the
    Xbox One Edition and
Nintendo Switch Edition. It was released for
    Pocket Edition as version
    1.2
, and as a new version for the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Eventually,
    Pocket Edition
for Windows phones was discontinued after the official release of
Better Together Update on September 20, 2017. Beta testing for the update for Android & Windows 10 began on July 31, 2017 and an update for Xbox One began on August 17, 2017.[1],
and it was submitted to certification for 9 of the 10 platforms on September 15, 2017. It was released on September 20, 2017 on all platforms except
Apple TV Edition (with no clear release timeline), and Nintendo Switch, which is being delayed til 2018 to get Xbox accounts working on it.[2][3]
The update for the Xbox One Edition is free for gamers who own a digital copy or have played the disc version for at least 5 hours in the past 12 months or have bought at least one DLC. The legacy versions for the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One from the
Legacy Console Edition will no longer receive updates, and will no longer be available to purchase.[4]

The official name for the update, Better Together Update, or also known as "1.2" merges the bedrock platforms under one title - "Minecraft", reflecting the addition of cross-platform
compatibility between the Pocket Edition (Android/iOS only),
    Windows 10 Edition,
    Xbox One Edition,
Gear VR Edition, and soon the
Nintendo Switch Edition.[5] It is unclear if or when the
Apple TV Edition will be updated.
