1. Trouble adding and External HDD HELP!

Ok, I've scoured the forums and tried every solution I can find and nothing has worked so I'm posting this one as new.

I have an WD Passport Ultra 2TB external drive I'm trying to get to use with my Xbox One. I've formatted it every way possible, but I still cannot seem to find and format the hidden partition that WD forces on their HDD. I've tried deleting the volume,
quick formats, a full format that took a whole day, updating the firmware, software and any other ware I can and nothing clears the partition.

I've plugged it into my X1 and it recognizes it for media, but not games. I cannot format it on the X1 as many seem to suggest as I am not given the option when I select the drive whether through pushing the menu button or the A button. It does not give
me the option to format for the X1.

I've seen other people find solutions, but upon trying the solutions it STILL doesn't work for me. Help a frustrated Father out on Father's Day and someone please tell me you've had this problem and solved it.

Thanks,

:)

Audio problem with downloadable games

Where do you store your digital games? Are they on the internal HDD or an external HDD?

If it is external, what make and model HDD are you using?

Could be that the game isn't streaming fast enough but the above info should give us a starting point to help trouble shoot with you.

Trouble adding and External HDD HELP!

I am actually having the same exact problem. I have a WD book 2TB and i have done all the steps you have. I have tried everything. Xbox refuses to recognize that its more than just media storage. It's extremely frustrating. I tried reformating it. took two
days. nothing. Tried formatting to FAT32. shutting the xbox off. turning off the "turn off hard drive when off" option. Absoulutey nothing works.

5. Just to make sure, your HDD is USB 3.0 right, USB 2.0 does not allow games to be played on the Xbox One because the transfer rate is too slow

You should be able to get rid of any hidden partitions on your external drive by going connecting it to your PC and going to diskmgmt (just type that in it should show up) from there you can repartition or remove partitions together with formatting your harddrive

(the following links show windows 7 but it's similar on 8 and 8.1 repartitioning and formatting deletes all remaining files on the HDD
)

Delete partition:windows.microsoft.com/.../delete-a-hard-disk-partition

Repartition:windows.microsoft.com/.../repartition-hard-disk

Then make sure to format your drive to
NTFS
as this is the only format the Xbox One can use for games

(FAT32 can only store up to about 4.5Gb in a single file while NTFS doesn't have that issue)

After you've formatted etc, connect the drive to your Xbox One while it's on, this should make it detect it. (try plugging the drive in, in the back of the console)

If you’re currently in Instant-On mode, follow these steps to adjust the power management for storage:

1. Go to the Home screen.
2. Press the Menu button on the controller.

1. Select Settings.
2. Go to Power & startup.
3. Unselect the checkbox next to “When Xbox is off, turn off storage.”
This way your harddrive doesn't randomly turn off from time to time if your console goes in sleep mode.

if that all didn't work then also try to powercycle your console

1. Press the power button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds.
2. Turn on the console again, and then see if it detects the external drive.
If your Xbox still doesn't detect your harddrive then it does not meet the requirements

External hdd troubles.

I have been having the same issues it seems just to be a random thing. I would try unplugging the hard drives , then unplug the console for five mins, then plug the console back in and then the hard drives and see if that helps
