Trouble accessing privacy and online safety restrictions

Hi, I am having a hard time accessing my privacy and online safety restrictions. When I click it, it says that my settings are online but I need to connect to the service to change them. What does this mean and how do I work past this?

Need Help figuring out how to update profile privacy settings

You can change your (son's) privacy settings online. Keep in mind that a child account has certain restrictions placed on it that cannot be changed. See here for instructions and more information:

Cant play Evolve MP but can play other games

Could it be that perhaps you have a child account and the online settings prevent you from accessing Evolve MP ?

You may want to check to access your settings at
account.xbox.com/.../Home and check your settings there. After that they should be accessible on the One, too.

I believe you might have restrictions on your online privacy settings. Please access Manage app privacy settings on Xbox | Xbox Support to adjust your account settings online.

Just as Nixelplex explained, a child account is permanently associated with the date of birth used to create it. You do have the option to use the adult account linked with it to manage the

privacy and online safety options allowing you to access otherwise restricted content and options.
