Tropico 5 - Game Issue (unplayable)

Hello

I am having issues regarding the game Tropico 5 for XBOX 360.

Since the last update (july/august 2016) the game is always crashing making it impossible to be played. I have to turn the power off and on again and retry the game. And it continued to crah.

Thus I went to Kalypso's forum,the game's creator, and exposed this issue. Other clients are having this same isse. (you can confirm here -

I was directed to kalypso´s support team and, after exposing the problem, I asked when would this issue be solved. They say they don´t know when or if it is going to be solved.

So,having this emails from the company itself, I am contacting you to help me solve this since now I have a game that is unplayable, no solution on sight and no way to be compensated for a game bought on your online store and deemed playable...



Regarding the issue, I am sending you the specifics:
- Version of the game (to be seen in the menu of T5)

BOUGHT THROUGH THE XBOX360 MARKETPLACE - VERSION 1.10 AS SEEN ON THE CREDITS MENU

- language of the game

ENGLISH

- region setting of your console

I AM IN PORTUGAL AND BOUGHT THE CONSOLE HERE, SO I BELIEVE EUROPE

- language set on your console

PORTUGUESE

- What is happening (small summary, probably reproduction steps for our Devs)?

THE GAME SEEMS TO WORK FINE UNTIL I SAVE THE GAME, OR IT AUTO SAVES, OR AFTER I START USING THE BUILDING MENU (IT BLOCKS SOMETIMES WHEN SELECTING AN OPTION) - THIS CAN HAPPEN BETWEEN 2MIN AND 10 MIN OF PLAYING.

IF YOU JUST LEAVE THE GAME GOING AND DO NOT OPEN ANY MENU, SELECT ANY BUILDING OR INTERACT WITH THE GAME IN ANY WAY, IT DOES NOT SEEM TO FREEZE, IT ONLY CRASHES WHEN YOU INTERACT WITH THE GAME

BEFORE THE GAMES CRASHES COMPLETELY, SOMETIMES THE BUILDING MENU STARTS GETTING CORRUPTED (WITH SOME STRIPES ON THE GAME MENU), WHICH DEMANDS ME TO RESTART THE CONSOLE,



I have the emails exchanged with Kalypso where they confirm me possibility to never have this game playable again on my console.


I will be expecting your reply and offer any information needed for you to help me.

I don't think we get Tropico 4 because we have Tropico 5 and it's multiplayer.

 

when you say "Since the last update (july/august 2016)" do you mean a title update for the game, or a system update for the console? looking at the Kalypso thread, it seems to be a Title Update. this means you could possibly play offline by clearing the
cache (which removes all title updates on your system), or if the title update is accessible through the storage manager on 360, you can just delete the update for this game. then when you start the game, choose not to accept the update, which will cause
you to have to play offline. this might also prevent some or all DLC from working, though you could possibly find a previous title update online that enables the DLC but doesn't cause this unplayable issue. you'd still have to stay offline to avoid the new
one.

if the update is the issue, then that should work, and it would not be Microsoft's fault, but an issue with the update created by the developers. if they have told you they may never fix it, and you would like to try and receive a refund and revoke your
license for the digital game, you can contact MS support by phone or live chat and ask them to do so. they may be reluctant, but if you explain the issue and insist, they may be able to give your money back.

i am certain that MS will officially tell you it's not their issue and you'd need to contact the developer, which you have. however perhaps a support staff here can raise the issue and get the higher teams in contact with Kalypso to prompt them further
for a fix. i've seen them act as a go-between for customers with problems, which generally gives good results. clearly they are being uncooperative on their own forums, but if they get Microsoft on their backs they don't really have a choice. we just need
to make sure MS fully understands this issue so they can file the proper "paperwork" to get some action taken.

of course all their questions could be answered by reading the thread you linked to, but i would expect that they will ask again to hear it directly from users experiencing problems. i suggest you link to this thread on that thread and inform people that
by posting here to MS would be the best way to come to a resolution. they have a responsibility to make a game that works and not release updates that completely destroy functionality, and MS takes that very seriously. especially once they start having to
refund people, which from what i read, they have already begun to do so.

EDIT: actually i decided i would register there myself and send people here to report their issues.

Sorry to hear about all of the issues and the frustration it may have caused. Could you try clearing your cache three times in succession, then turning your console
off and back on again? After doing that, please uninstall and reinstall the game as well.

hmm, did you read the thread linked at the dev forums? this is affecting multiple users. i read that at least one user (Amyporter1981) has cleared her cache and un/reinstalled. can you explain a legitimate reason why clearing it more than once would be
any different than just one time? i read support once saying something along the lines of "little files can build up and the more you clear it the more you remove the buildup". but clearing the cache deletes title updates (and other stuff in the cache folder
of the HDD i assume). why would clearing it once not clear everything?

from past experiences it is determined that clearing it 3 times has been solving issues while a single time has not.

I don't know the technical aspects why it does work in some cases, but I have seen it solve issues with the 3x clearing of cache, while one did not work.

 

I have been dealing with this problem since the beginning of August.

Platform = Xbox360, game on disc.

What is happening = the game freezes - this happens apparently randomly. I have had it freeze within a few minutes of playing, or freeze after an hour. I have to shut down the Xbox360 completely, and start from the last auto-save. Also the images in the
building menu will get scrambled.

Since when = I had not played in a long while and when I opened the game last weekend, (July 28 or 29) there was a "game needs an update" notice. I installed the update and the problems began.

I deleted the update, and I can play without the freezes or the scrambled images, but I can't play any of the DLC without it, only the main campaign & Big Cheese. Very frustrating.That is $70+ dollars worth of content that I paid for and cannot enjoy.

I spent a long afternoon on live chat with MS customer support trying all there suggestions. nothing worked. They finally gave a me a refund for the most recent DLC, but not the DLC I purchased las year - which is the majority of what I bought. MS insists
that they need a reference number from Kalypso Media.

Kalypso Media customer service insists that they don't know what I mean by "reference number" and keeps directing me back to MS.

 

i don't know what this reference number could possibly mean. they need a reference number from the developer to give you a refund for your purchase? but you bought it from MS, through the xbox marketplace, right? or do they need the reference number for
a support ticket to prove the game content is faulty?
