Hello Jaskaran, Recently, some found a pop-up informing that the system is infected with the Win32/Bluteal.B!rfn trojan. The pop-up is displayed by Microsoft Windows Defender, however, this anti-malware tool detects completely legitimate files and identifies them as Win32/Bluteal trojans! Rfn.


This is frustrating and dangerous, as false positive detections can lead to permanent data loss.


False positive detections usually occur due to failures in the antimalware set database - the database contains false information, and therefore the antivirus tool detects irrelevant files. Initially, these "failures" may seem insignificant, however, the tools can permanently exclude false positives.


So you'll find these false positives. If Windows Defender has detected the Win32/Bluteal.B! Rfn on your system, we recommend that you first update the tool (especially if you are sure that the detected file is legitimate) before taking any other action. To update Windows Defender, follow the steps in the link below.

It is a false flag, can safely be ignored (as you are using Windows anyway so there is little more info they need to get from you), many a time that Microsofts own spyware gets flagged

If it was played on a computer, the website would say "Win32"

What type of media files are you trying to play?

Als be aware, that the UWP app version (i.e. the version that runs on Xbox One and Windows 10 from the App store, not the Win32/Mac version you can download from the VLC website) of the VLC Media Player does not support all media formats that
the Mac/Win32 app supports.
