Triple layer discs and dvds

If the end ability is to read the layers, and it’s progressively getting worse, it is almost definitely your drive.

Many times big new games come out and they’re blamed for breaking peoples tonsils, when in reality it’s simply coincided with a hardware going to happen anyway. Disk drives don’t typically go all at once, that usually takes days, weeks, even months of progressively getting worse. The fact that you’re going down in order of complexity supports that hypothesis, but it’s up to you what you wanna do

Hello, it tries to read the disc and then stops. The only time if gives me a pop up is when I select the blu ray app.

We're having trouble reading this. Make sure it's a Blu-ray or DVD. If it's a game, launch it from your games & apps instead. (0x91d700000)

I've had no problem in the past with this disc untill recently. It's a dual layer dvd as well.

It does the same thing with most other dvd's or triple layer 4k disc as well. Tries to read it, then stops and if I select the blu ray app it gives the pop up. All of these discs have worked before as well.

Hello there, thanks for bringing this up. When it doesn't play the DVD, have you noticed anything else, like an error code or any messages that populate giving you any information from the console?

Still doesn't address playing simple dvd issues for play back. Games on disc work fine and am able to play blu ray discs as well and double layered 4k discs. Just the triple layer 4k and simple dvd use is no longer available.

The high end and low end discs don't play but the mid range do?

Like I said this happens with the updates everytime. And then go back to being fine. Has been this way ever since I've had this xbox from day one. So the days, weeks and months is not the answer to a break down in hardware over almost five years. And like I've said it is documented through users and xbox themselves with playback issues intermittently through the updates. Then it is patched. Look at all the problems in the past with discs not being readable on these consoles and older ones as well.

Google it; a lot of users are having issues with 4k triple layer right now as well. And if it is hardware, xbox is releasing false information on it hardware capabilites and, or someone who codes the firmware updates is deleting codes for recognizing certain discs and then patches it again at another time when updates are available.
