Traveling with a 2nd Xbox One

    Hello,

My Xbox One has officially been accepted by the family. Even if it wasn't for games, it still plays a big part in our entertainment.

But here is my problem: My job will require some travel overseas to Saudi Arabia.

The hotel has good WiFi and a nice TV. So I am thinking of buying a second Xbox One and taking it with me.

My wife does not play many games, and I would take most of my collection with me.

But are there any issues that I should be aware of in using a 2nd X1 outside the USA?

    Thanks,

    Rod

    :)

Putting your Xbox through the scanners won't cause any damage. HDD's often go through airport scanners with other devices and that is the likely component that people reference. The xray the aiport scanner uses isn't sufficient to damage electronics. Only
thing really not to put through them is camera film.

As it is a console they will want you to take it out of your bag like they do with laptops to go through the scanner though so don't pack your bag too much as you will need to remove it from your bag before sending it through.

It'd probably be best to pack the console in your carry on luggage and the cables in your checked in luggage or they might start asking you to take out the power brick, controllers etc if it is in your carry on luggage.

Also, yes the UK do offer the same request to not put it through the scanners if that is what you decide to do.

    Traveling with Xbox One

In a week I will be traveling to the U.K., where I will be staying for a semester (study abroad). I've done some research on traveling with xbox consoles in preparation for the journey - I came across one forum thread that said if you put your xbox through
security (x-ray machines), it will damage the console. The post continued to say that your allowed to ask security not to scan the device but it seems like a lot of hassle and I don't want to be that one person who holds up the line for 10minutes and get evil
stares. I also don't know if this would work returning home (U.S.) because U.K. airport security officials may not allow the same requests.

So my question is, is this true - will the console really be damaged if I run it through security? If it is in fact true, what would be the best way to travel with the console?

There could be several issues. Saudi Arabia is PAL. USA is NTSC. So your box simply may not work there.

It would be an interesting question to pose to someone who works in 'Support'.

Just to give some info on this, as I have just returned from Korea and Saudi Arabia with my X1 and thought someone else might need the information:

    First, it works!

In Korea, I was able to get from the hotel a power converter and hook up my US 110v X1 and power it up. Then, I contacted the Hotel IT support and they were very nice and helpful. They added my X1 to the network for me so I had no problem connecting and
playing games. I was able to use Skype and browse the internet with no problem.

In Saudi Arabia, there was a 110 plug in the room, and I had it tested to make sure of the output. It worked fine. However, the IT staff there was unable to connect the X1 to their network directly, so I had to manipulate things.

In the hotel, you had to connect to the site through a browser and put in your name and room number in order to connect to the internet. The thing is, the X1 will not open a browser unless there is an internet connection.

The solution? I went into settings on the X1 and used an alternate MAC address. First, I connected my phone to the hotel WiFi. Then I took the MAC address from my phone and typed it into the X1. Next, I tured WiFi off on my phone and tried to connect the
    X1 and it worked fine.

As the hotel makes you log in to the network every day, once I had connected the first time it was easy; I just went into settings on the X1 and selected Go Offline. Then, I enabled WiFi on my phone and connected it to the hotel WiFi, including putting in
my room and name. Once connected, I disabled WiFi on my phone and selected Go Online on the X1. Easy as can be.

I was able to test the X1 in various way, and found that even though I would use the Test Connections and it worked fine, and the Test Group Connection and it said it worked fine, I could not play games like TitanFall. That was OK, as I had plenty of other
    games to play.

    Hope this helps someone!!

  6. Your Xbox One will work in any country as long as it's supported. There is no region lock on the Xbox anymore but you will have to select a different region if you would like evrything to be synched with that time zone.

Xbox 1 is region free. It's not like a DVD Player which will only read discs from 1 region. Australia and New Zealand are also PAL countries with very little time difference between Aus and NZ (only 2 hours apart). I have at least two Xbox friends from Saudi
Arabia (both of them are girls). But if you ask me Australia and NZ are more safer countries. Avoid Afghanistan and Israel and countries with Ebola. I hear it a lot on TV and the news.

EB Games here is selling a travel case for Xbox 1. The case isn't made by M tho, it's made by some 3rd party company.
