Transferring Xbox Gold from a child's account to my account to resolve Xbox 360 games issue

My son and I are using the same Xbox One. He has a child account. A year ago I bought an Xbox Live Gold subscription and attached it to his account without thinking about it. Through his account, we can download the free monthly Xbox One games without
any problem. However, we can't download the Xbox 360 games.

This is a recognised problem. From the support website:

I'm getting the message "Your account is unable to make this type of purchase on Xbox.com. Please complete this transaction from your Xbox."

This error means that the Microsoft account that you're trying to use to make the purchase doesn't have the ability to make the purchase.

Child and teen accounts are prevented from making purchases in the Xbox 360 Marketplace. Changing your Microsoft account age or your purchase settings won't resolve this issue.

To resolve this issue, purchase or download the content on your Xbox 360 console.

Troubleshoot Xbox 360 Marketplace Purchasing

It's time to renew the subscription and it makes sense to attach it to my account so I can download 360 games. However, if I do this, I'll lose access to all the previous free games I've downloaded through my son's account.

I spoke to MS support, but they weren't helpful - they spent an hour trying to fix the 360 problem (wouldn't even acknowledge it was a recognised problem), told me they would call me back to resolve it and never did.

Any suggestions?

Live Gold Account Issues/Questions

I setup two new profiles, myself, wife and a third account is a child's from an xbox 360..

I bought two dance games for them using my profile. Why can't they access these games on the xbox one without signing into my profile?

Additionally the child has an xbox 360 with a gold membership. That membership is not global on the xbox one until that account is signed into the xbox one.

I was under the impression that only one gold membership is required per household?

I wanted to continue to renew child's gold membership without buying two gold live memberships.

First time use/setup

Hi. I've bought a day one edition for my boys a surprise for Xmas but not had a chance to test it yet. Because one of my lads already has a 360 in his room with his own gold account, I am going to set up the xbox One with his as the primary account fir the gold access as that way we can use the same gold account on his 360 and the shared Xbox one.

However, if I set the Xbox one up late one night presumably I will have to add the primary/gold account that it will use (I.e my son's) as part of the initial set up . Then I'll try it with one of the games. So by doing this, when he next uses his 360 will he see that his account had been used on an Xbox one? Obviously I don't want him to suspect there is an Xbox one in the house!!!
