Transferring Xbox 360 profile to Xbox One

Hello, I'm planning on purchasing an Xbox One, but in order to that I'm going to trade in my Xbox 360 console. I believe they said I have to erase everything off the console. So my question is if I erased my profile off of my Xbox 360 will I completely lose
my profile and not be able to use it on an Xbox One? If someone could answer this that would be great. Thanks!

So does that mean i cant transfer my 360 gamertag to my xbox one and keep my achievements and gamerscore from the 360 profile?

Put it this way if Jambo ever decided to get another xbox ONE and re-download the other ONE would lose access immediately after transferring licenses.

It works the same as the 360 licenses!

on the 360 he can delete his profile but keep the items or delete profile and items.
i'm not sure if the ONE gives you this option yet as i've not tried

The Xbox One will walk you through the process. It really is quite simple. Just login with your account information and your good to go.

To let someone else use the content license, you must download your Xbox Live profile to their Xbox 360 console. Then, transfer your content licenses to that Xbox 360 console.

When you do a license transfer. You transfer the license directly to the Xbox 360 storage unit. The licenses you have on your profile are the ones that will move over to your Xbox one. The licenses you transferred are NOT on your profile. You will only be
able to use those on your 360 console. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Unfortunately the only way to do it is to purchase it with the account you want it on. Licenses can't be transferred between profiles, only consoles.
