Transferring Installed Games from one External HD to another External HD?

Okay so I recently installed all of my physical games (100+ 360 games) onto a 2TB external HD. I was running out of room on my 2TB Xbox One external drive so I upgraded that to a 4tb drive. My original Xbox one 2tb HD was the green Seagate 'xbox' branded
unit So I want to use that now for my 360. So I want to tranfer everything from a 2tb external drive to a different 2tb external drive.

When I go to transfer the data, it will only let me transfer downloadable content and downloaded games purchased from the xbox store - it will not let me transfer installed game data. Is this normal?

I really dont want to have to re-install 100+ games, that took me like 3 days to complete!

    Thanks

    -Nick

    :)

    Hey NiKki NiNe,

I totally understand not wanting to re-download that many games and their updates. Here is the official Xbox support walkthrough of the process of transferring games from one storage to another:

    support.xbox.com/.../manage-games-data

Transferring downloaded games from one storage to another is allowed, so your issue isn't normal. Try following the steps in the walk through for a transfer. And, if all else fails, you can Copy each game and content one at a time (which is also
outlined in the walkthrough). This option might help you delete some old files you don't want anymore, as well!

Let us know if this doesn't work and we can continue to dig for another solution, okay?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I'm not having any success with this. Let me explain again so theyre no confusions...

I recently installed ALL of my games (from physical original discs) onto one hexternal hard drive. I want to now copy the contents onto a dofferent external drive. It will only copy over the games i have downloaded from the xbox store and wont let me copy
any of the installed discs. When i try to copy one game at a time it "Some Items were skipped. To see what they were, go to Settings......." It wont move the disc-installed games.

Is this normal? Is there any way i can copy to entire drive on my PC? It wont read either drive when i plug them into my Windows 10 PC for some reason...

    Thanks for the help.

I can't find official documentation for this, but I believe that on the Xbox 360 the games installed from disc were coded to the specific console
and storage device. So, if you want the installation on a different drive, you will need to re-install from the game disc.

XBOX ONE X and external memory. Advice needed please

    Hello Helenic,

Not a problem, I am more than happy to explain this to you. Once you get another external HD all you need to do is when signed in on your profile you will go to my games and apps (on home screen just go down one). Once there, you will go to ready to install
this shows you all your digital games, you can then choose which games you want to install. You will choose where you want to install to internal or external HD. This is the easiest way to install them all again. As for disk games once you have the external
HD just put the disk in and install to the external HD.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Brad
