Transferring Games Onto New XBOX One All Digital

Hi all,

I have just purchased a new Xbox - my first in a number of years... The Xbox is the All-Digital version and has no disk drive... Is there a way of downloading my old disk games onto this or are they now defunct? We do have another Xbox in the house with
a disk drive and thought I could just transfer them over from that but I get the error code (0x803f8001) Do you own this game or app? And obviously can insert the disk as the All Digital hasn't got one.... Any help appreciated

Afraid not.Like you said,you would need to insert the disc to install the game which you obviously can't do on the all digital xbox one.

The only way to get your games would be to buy the digital version of that game.

As for the error code on your other xbox,there are a few things you can try HERE

as far as i know there was a plan to make it posiple to Change Discs to digital versions. Maybe there is a way but only Microsoft can answer this important Question.

Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are currently inquiring about using transferred games that you previously installed on another console with physical media.

Daft Badger stated, you can technically install any games onto your console, however, without the digital fingerprint [license] that is applied to your account when you purchase a game digitally, you will be unable to launch this game. With physical media,
the disc you purchased carries the license, so without that copy, you will be unable to launch your game.

I'm sorry about any confusion or turmoil this might have caused.

I just got a new 250GB xbox and it was a bit of a pain to transfer all the files over without the Xbox File Transfer Kit. I recommend buying one of these if you can afford it, to make your life easier.

Without the kit, I had to do the following steps to transfer everything over;

1. Transfer licenses of all purchased games and add-ons.

2. Add all previously downloaded games and add-ons to my download queue.

3. Allow 2-3 hours for everything to download on the new console.

4. Copy all my saved games from the old console onto the cloud one at a time.

5. Copy all my saved games from the cloud onto the new console one at a time.

Took about 4 hours to do all this, what a massive pain.

Hi there

Thanks for reaaching out. With an Xbox One Digital, it means that you won't be able to use CD's on your console and might mean that you need to download it twice.

The alternative is using an external hard drive on your all Xbox console and transfering your games onto it. You can then plug this into your new console and have access to the games
